Dunno if you wanna count Dead or Alive as official cannon for Halo but i thought i should point out that one of the character's, Nicole, is Spartan-458.

Does anyone actually read threads, anymore?

We went over this. According to Bungie she is not part of the cannon, just a means to an end.

Alright just thought I'd get this straight. When used in communications SIERRA is a code/reference word to the letter 'S'. So unless there are other infantry unit's besides Spartans in the UNSC that begin with the letter S, I'm pretty sure that it simply means SPARTAN-259.

Although this may conflict with other snippets of information from the Halo verse story-line, I'm pretty sure Bungie will know how to fit this in, after all they have way more info on this then us, so until then just hold onto your pants.

The only thing that makes since is a second group of Spartan II's since the Spartan III's never left Onyx.

Could Sierra 259 also mean Sierra (Spartan) 2 (II) as in Spartan-II 59, Which would make him Malcolm-059.

Obviously he does exist, or he wouldn't be in the game. Ask Bungie. lol.

There were only 150 Candidates for Spartans, and not all of Bungies Teasers are true remember Halo 2s teaser.

I assume you're referring to the demo they put out that everyone assumed would take place on earth, cause the level they played was an earth based level? Yeah... i remember that. lol.

I am well aware of the halo cannon, my friend, there are two seperate spartans identifiying themselves in that trailer. It could be that there are in face S-III's or even some un yet talked about S-II Class Two's on reach, based on the call signs. Or it could be complete junk that is simply a place holder covering up fred & kelly's idenities. Who knows?.... not me.

  • 06.06.2009 12:36 AM PDT

why are you looking at this?

the mark VI wasn't just created for the MC, in halo first strike it says that the armor was completed and needed testing and a group of spartans that were defending reach used the armor, the MC just got the armor when he returned to earth......

And no, I am talking went The Chief Drops in a pod and kicks elite asses, that was not in Halo 2. I am placing it in the area of Junk. S-III Gammas didn't receive any orders until a few weeks After Reaches Fall.

Agreed. The remaining spartans on reach used the pieces that Dr. Halsey found to upgrade certain parts of thier armor... which could explain the difference in the sillouettes?... Probably not tho... lol.

I have been here since 2003, but in a site update my account was deleted.

lol host

I just thought I'd point out that the game doesn't necessarily have to take place on Reach the entire game. It could be the events leading up to the battle of Reach. The entire book The Fall of Reach was not just Reach falling. That would explain why we could actually have some of the dead Spartans back, like Sam, Malcom, etc.

That is a very good point.

Do you not realize that the Halo Trilogy takes place over a few months?
These suits could have been in production back when there were still 25 Spartans.
Also it is very unlikely that there would be a second class of Spartans because the project was postponed indefinitely by Hasley. Ackerson said the money for that program was given to him.
The Spartan III's are either all dead or in a slipspace bubble inside of Onyx.
Your theory isn't accurate or cohesive.

It is interesting to speculate but all I really care about is the almost guaranteed fact that there will be multiple Spartans fighting alongside you in the campaign. As long as they improve upon the AI of your allies then the campaign should be awesome. Looking at the Reach wallpaper though Master Chief appears to be nowhere in site so perhaps there going to (as many of you have speculated) put you in the shoes of other, as of now, unknown Spartans.

Then again not having the Chief in this game would be a very bad move and not one I imagine Bungie making. So long as they mostly keep true to the books and tell their own story as well this should be good, and of course make sure that the Chief is in his Mark V Mjolnir armour, and don't put him in any other.

nubba dub scrub in a tub

I went in halopedia when i thought this too, and it said that there was another group of spartan 2's after the group which master cheif was in. Also, ive always considered that since their were 300 original spartan 2 candidates, they could have just kept their original number before it was reduced to 150 conscripts.
Eitherway, all will be revieled in due time. Bungie hasnt killed the halo story yet and they treat it with the utmost respect so just have a little faith ;)

I'll bring the tritium laser cutters if you bring the beer!

Funny story.

For all argueing about the spartan 3s time frame. they were being trained and fighting in halo2 and 3. Thats why they had cameras at the begining when master cheifs in that orbital station, it was to devert atention away from the spartan 3s so they could be secretive. So no they will not be in reach because they were probably not even born yet. And as a side note alot of them die before they see any major action.

Not born yet?

The Battle of Reach takes place in 2552, of course they're born.

To the other guy, Spartans I are not the Spartans from Greece.

The Spartan I project was called ORION, it started in 2491, it was design for the insurgents just like the Spartan II, but unlike the Spartan II they were volunteers.

It is not only implied that Johnson is a Spartan I it is confirmed in Halo Contact Harvest.

this was on bungie.net about S-458. also this happend BEFORE the Alpha halo so yeah the S-3's havent been trained yet and maybe not even born

She's not a character who's ever been described in other Halo fiction.
She's not a character from our next project.
She's not one of the Spartans from Fall of Reach.
She's not a character from the Halo movie.
She's not returning my calls. I blame time bubbles.

In short, she's a fictional means to an end that we gave careful thought, but with a jaunty tip of our hat and a wry wink in the general direction of levity. The way she was implemented into the game, however, was deadly serious
