Ehm, didn't you just post the exact same thread with a different name a couple of minutes ago?

  • 06.03.2009 11:16 PM PDT

Didnt you make another thread saying the exact same thing? And yes most likely they can survive. Why would they make a orbital drop pod thingy without adding a few floaties in it? The planet is 70% water.

Fish<><

Am I going crazy or did you just post this same thread like ten minutes ago?

I do not see why it would not,, its like the old Apollo capsules landing in the water after the moon missions.

Hehe, floaties... That made my day.
On-topic, yeah they should be able to land in water.

But what would happen if it lands in the ocean? The ODST's helmet might leak under all that pressure assuming it sinks to the bottom of the ocean floor.

Okay, maybe I'm wrong. I haven't researched about the drop-pod but I just like this forum.
Oh and if it lands in the ocean it'll probably sink because some other forum guy said that the drop pod weighs about 871 kilos.
(I don't think the pods have "floaties" anymore.) I recall my statement.

Well floaties are probably not the best word, but even today almost every type of air born vehicle has a raft in it if it is gonna be near water. UNSC developers would be extremely stupid if they create a planet dropping pod and not add a "float button" on it.

I wish I was still legendary.

According to the cole protocol book, They have a thruster that the pilot can fire ONCE if they land in an undesirable location to move the pod, as long as it's upright. I doubt this would get them out of water though, so they may either float or have some form of flotation device.

Oh right good point. I recall my statement as well. An activate floatation device button makes too much sense for Halo.

In the halo book "the flood", ODSTs drop onto the surface of halo.
15 of them leave, and 11 make it, with at least one fatality from a drop pod landing in a lake.
