So I was flipping though the guide like a nerd, and found this

BRUTE (Jiralhanae)

Massive and ape-like. Many have been observed speaking human languages. Depending on location and MOS they will be encountered in groups up to eight.

They are fearless, vicious opponents and must not be underestimated. Currently, they fill the command role that Elites occupied previously. Whether or not this is indicative of a power shift within the Covenant is of no consequence to the current operation. ANYTHING that seeks to obstruct the successful completion of your mission is a legitimate target.

Now I find it odd that Bungie has said we wont fight Elites but than it says hear.

ANYTHING that seeks to obstruct the successful completion of your mission is a legitimate target

To me that says shoot first ask questions latter, if its not human its should die. Now Im like hummm because yeah bungie said oh there will be no killing Elites sure, but they also said they would be making no more halo games. . . ODST. . . REACH. . . . can we really trust them?

And if there are not Elites than why put that at all.

How does that imply Elites?

It might imply other humans.

Besides, Bungie have already stated there won't be any.

And as for your "but they also said they would be making no more halo games. . . ODST. . . REACH. . . . can we really trust them?"...yes, because these games are spin-offs, which are not part of the Halo-trilogy canon arc (ie, Halo 1, 2, 3, 4...etc.). We can trust them because they're making the frigging game.

Oh no the elites were on our side and the fight continues with the brutes in the outter colonies..........................wait a minute.......................I'm not sure about the timeline but in halo 2 New mombassa was full of elites and now it's replace them with brutes like it is the end of halo 3 WTF!

Bungie has also said the newest game is cannon, so it wouldn't be a real spin off now would it, its about as much of one as they are saying Halo Wars is, Halo Wars is cannon, as are the books. Saying what your saying is like saying that. None of the books, not the other games matter because it does not have the number.

Elites, could very well be in the game, I mean after all its a war, it would only be logical that some would still fight human, hate is hate, and war is war. Plus by the elimination of elites, you really do lose a huge base of things to fight in fire fight.

Thats what I'm saying.

At the end of halo 2 you were fighting them. Halo ODST takes place half way though Halo 2, when the prophet, goes in to slipstream, do to there own myth the up upheaval, and change of guard is just happening. Elites would not have gotten there walking papers yet, and would still be fighting humans, if nothing else some Human, Brute, Elites, fire fights going on.

GOLD BARS MAKE ME RICH

I thought all Bungie ever said was that Halo 3 would conclude the Master Chief story. I don;t remember them saying they were done with the Halo franchise.

As for Elites in the game, the only mention of elites on earth that I remember from Halo 3 were the shipmaster mentioning the Elites that were with Arbiter. I'm not as up on the novels, so I only know what I get from the campaigns.

But this is not going on during Halo 3 its going on mostly during Halo 2, when the city is destroyed because of the slip space jump. That was half way though the game, and in Halo 2 you were still fighting the Elites till the end.

In fact Halo 3 takes place 2 weeks after Halo 2

Self-proclaimed genius.
Roam the streets with a sign, "will love for false hope."

No Elites will be featured in ODST. Brutes occupy New Mombasa. To add Elites goes against the refined Canon and the programming ability that Bungie was able to accomplish within the given timeframe.

Read, they have to replace Brutes with Elites. Of which there's an entire army of Brutes and only 3 Elite types. It would be a waste to undertake that task.

We do, this just isn't funny.

Maybe by anything they are hinting that you have to kill Dare?

NO GROUP INVITES!!!

I'll add my post third time to a thread...

Here is the explanation why no Elites in ODST:
http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?cid=16989

And here is my explantion.. or speculation. Whatever.

Oh and how come there are Brutes but no Elites on Earth during ODST?
Let's think Regret's Fleet. 2 Assault Carriers and 15 CCS-Battlecruisers.
One Assault Carrier was destroyed, and one jumped away, with most, if not all Elite(Sangheili) forces. The rest of the Elites still on ground are killed by humans, who had considerable numbers compared to the Covenant forces.
Truth hears that Regret fled so he orders the rest of CCS cruisers attack. Or those which are still left and have BRUTE CREWS. That Regret's Fleet contains Brutes too is only explanation how Brutes are attacking Earth, Mombasa only two hours after Regret left. The Covenant has fast slipspace drives but even they cannot send massive attack force that quick probably, unless Truth had other ships on route while Regret was attacking Earth.
So anyways, Truth's Brutes land on Earth within 2 hours from initial Covenant attack. And they continue gaining reinforcements.... and the fighting on Earth lasts for weeks... until the Ark Portal is uncovered and the Covenant retreats.

Have to add that BUNGIE never explained how the Brutes got to Earth so fast after Elites had left or killed. I think my explanation explains that..

Oh for the love of God... As some other people have stated: All the invading Elites left with the ship before jumping. They left the Brutes (which are less worth than Grunts back then) To patrol the city and take down surviving UNSC soldiers.

OBVIOUSLY the Elites have already stood in the way of the Brutes, and thus the Brutes have annihilated every Elite in New Mombasa!

  • 06.04.2009 5:51 AM PDT

Bungie said No Elites because at that time there WERE NO ELITES on Earth. Its just simple canon.

  • 06.04.2009 5:52 AM PDT

That Foman guy freaking hates me.

elites left with regret when he went into slip space, its in the novels.
brutes were deployed after, ODST takes place between halo 2 and halo 3.
or so i've heard.

No Elites in ODST unfortunately.

I hope they are the primary enemy in Reach, though. Theyre probably my #1 favourite FPS enemy of all time.

  • 06.04.2009 6:18 AM PDT

I Love ODST. Nice game.

Elites are not Enemys to the Humans during this time in Halo. H3:ODST takes place about 2 or more or less weeks from the events of Halo 3. Hence the title Halo "3": ODST. Plus Bungie said they wont be making a Halo 4. and that Halo is a TRILIGY. ODST is an Episode kinda like "Lost and Dammed" to GTAIV. and Halo: Reach is a New game taking place before Halo:CE. So you see now. There is no reason for this thread to continue as of now. I just Explained why you are WRONG.
