At the end of Halo 2 the humans became allies with Elites, that's fine. But at the start they were still fighting. Now it sort of makes some sense that every Elite was pulled from the surface and left behind were some Grunts,Brutes and a bunch of hardware.

A programmer could confirm or ruin this post but are they just farting the unplausable reason the Elites aren't in the game because the AI of Elties in the Halo 3 engine is all setup to attack covenant and to re write it would have taken serious time and Bungie couldn't be bothered?

Wait wat?

Bungie doesn't just copy and paste the AI's in between their games. They create the AIs for the game..

They build AIs on top of the other AIs. It's easier, and faster, than start the whole proces from the beginning. And the only explaniation why we are not fighting Elites is because they left. They are smart enough to leave when slipspace rupture is taking place at the city where they were, or then masterchief killed them all, and the Brutes where smart enough to stay hiding.

Damn, a couple of explaniations...

Do you actually believe that the AI for the Brutes, Grunts, Spirits, Wraiths and all the other AI controlled stuff they completely rewrote becasue they started an expansion pack in the SAME engine.

Why do you think a small team managed to make the game in about a year?

Small team? I was under the impression that everyone except for a small team was working on ODST... huh.

And no, they don't need to completely rewrite the AI to tell it 'Don't kill these guys, kill these guys'.
And yes the AI is different too. Why even in the E3 video a brute does this pimped out lunge thing.
And yes they did change the AI and are capable of it, else we'd never have heard of the Brute Pimp

Bam! Said the lady.

i think you guys need to learn abit more about making games before you mouth off with statements treating them like fact

Self-proclaimed genius.
Roam the streets with a sign, "will love for false hope."

It has to do more with the style of the Brutes and the Elites featured in Halo 3. There's an entire caste of Brutes that were designed to fill the role of the Elites. While there's like 3 types of Elites minus the Arbiter and Shipmaster.

It was easier to create a backstory for why you only face Brutes in ODST instead of trying to revamp the main enemy caste. I would love to verse Elites but Brutes are more unique and bring forth many abilities. Such as destructible armor, species specific AI, Equipment usage, berserk, dialog, etc.

It's unfortunate that Elites wont be the main enemy in ODST but it's next to impossible to make them as such because of the limitations Halo 3 set upon them to make Brutes the main enemy.

If you shoot an Elite long enough, you can bet he'll shoot you back, him and all his mates.
