Bungie released a bunch of info on HALO: ODST and in that info listed all of the enemy types. It's confirmed that there will be no Elites in ODST. I think that sucks. In my opinion they're better than brutes in every way. There should be Elites because you fight them in HALO 2 when you're in New Mombasa you're fighting Elites. The Elites aren't your ally until the end of HALO 2 and all threw HALO 3. So Bungie better explain the absence of Elites, because it can't really be HALO without Elites.

well, in this segment of time, i'd say just deal with it.

but in a philisophical stand-point, the prophets are now starting to trust the brutes more than the elites, for only a few levels after the end of the Outskirts level, the power is shifted from the elites to the brutes.

so basically, the prophets felt that the elites were unfit to occupy New Mombasa, and they sent in the brutes.

That's what I assumed, although I was hoping to drop in during the beginning of the attack. It all depends when the ODST dropped in basically. I just found it more satisfying to kill Elites than Brutes.

Would be cool if you could fight both, like: brutes vs. elites vs. players.

Well, I think they're allies at the end of Halo 2, because Bungie said that Halo 3: ODST takes place before Halo 3, but somewhat time lapsed between Halo 2 and Halo 3.

well, after i heard every1 saying elites are better, i went to play halo 2. here is my assesment:

responsiveness- brutes(elites feel dumb, when you dash from cover even on legendary elites take a second too fire at you)

armor- brutes(armor recharges faster than energy sheilds)

teamwork- brutes(work together: cover each other, shows teammates where you are hiding[pointing at hiding spot/you] higher ranking brutes die their teamwork falls into chaos but reassign leader.)

weapons- brutes(in my opinion)

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

I have no clue where you got this, Brutes are so non-responsive, you can just walk by them half the time.

And energy shields are INFINITE. Brutes you just knock them off and they are done.

Teamwork, yes, BUT you will never see a Brute take proper cover.

And the Energy Sword beats Hammer hands down, the Plasma Rifle Elites use is 4 shot-kill, Brutes really have to pump into you with the Spiker to kill you. Needlers are far more dangerous than a Brute Shot, the only really better weapon is the Brute Plasma Rifle, which they are just now bringing back.

Play both games on Legendary, it sounds like you've beaten Halo 3 on Legendary, then tried to compare to Halo 2 on Easy.

As for why there are no Elites, this is 6 hours after an explosion that would have wiped out ALL the Elites in the City. Then the Brutes flew in and landed.
