From all the clips I've seen of ODST I don't think there are any fights with Elite.

Any theory's as to why they won't be appearing. They were in the city in halo 2.
Is there any chance of them appearing in firefight?

Old School

No, bungie has confirmed 100% that there will be no Elites in Halo : ODST. FACT.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

They were killed in the explosion, then the Brutes came in... Anyway, this game takes place DURING the Schism, so no, they aren't our enemies.

And Bungie already said they will not appear in the game (Except in MP and MM of course.)

NO GROUP INVITES!!!

Of course but i accept Bungie's decision and i keep saying that there are no Elites in ODST.
BUT i wouldn't be surprised about an Elite related Easter Egg, either bodies or live ones maybe?

the reason there not there is because after the antimatter annialation caused by regrets ship, and the battle on the delta halo, the elites joined the humans. also, they would have wanted to pull all the elites out of the city to guard the prophet of regret. the brutes are there because, at the time, they were more like pawns than soldiers. SRRy man, but good idea.

see what i dont get is why they didnt put the option for brutes in mulitplayer (i know its because of balance reasons) but they are now more "important" than the elites.

I can't think of any good reason why Elites wouldn't be in the game. From a technical or storyline point of view. They could easily be enemies, they could easily be temporary allies, or even neutral participants in the battle. They're going to have to feature in the campaign in some fashion, whether its fully involved or just dead bodies. Without Flood to fight there aren't exactly a great deal of enemies left to feature in the game.

But it would be AWESOME to see a H3 style Zealot Elite. Or even a Councillor.
