???

recently, footage was released showcasing the new opening cutscene for halo 3 odst. in the cutscene, the rookie is asleep while Dutch, Romeo, and Mickey are conversing about the battle they think they are going to fight on the covenant carrier which the navy "missed". Dare and Buck walk into the room, and tell the soldiers to get into their pods. Dare and buck start having a conversation when they leave.
"Replacements?" asks Dare.
"As many used in the war," states buck <-(that one might wrong, i couldn't hear them very well.)
"At least they listened."
"To me. They're not gonna like what they hear."
"Orders are Orders."
"C'mon Veronica, what could be more important than that carrier."
"My orders. And Buck, call me captain. I'll pass on that dance, but you can't tell me where to sit."
Dare walks away.

Romeo grabs a shotgun, stating that this is going to be close quarters. Buck walks in, grabs it out of his hands, and gives him a sniper. Romeo asks how this is going to help him in close combat, but buck doesn't answer. Romeo wakes up the rookie by wacking him in the head, and dutch gives him a silenced smg, and say that sometimes it's best to do it quietly.

So through this, it is obvious that the troops were expecting to land on the covenant carrier. (the one that jumped into slipspace.) but Dare had something different on her mind. could this be the reason that she is rumored to "betray her team?" if so then why wouldn't buck betray his team too. it is hinted that he is in on this "secret" too, and that the team will not like what's gonna happen. if Dare really is the final Boss, than that means buck would either be on her side, against her side, or dead. i doubt he would be on her side, because that would mean 2 boss battles, and i doubt that bungie would put in two boss battles. so that leaves him fighting against her with the rookie, or dying. i believe he will die, there is almost always a heroic main character that dies. (Johnson, Miranda, Captain Keyes) So i personally believe that Buck will make the right choice, die, and save the lives of many.

PS Dares name is Veronica

1.) I never thought she had evil intentions.
2.) The streets of New Mombasa are one campaign mission, so even if The Rookie doesn't find his team there, I doubt it's going to truly revolve around their landing than on the war.

well, there were 2 boss battles in halo 2: a prophet (i forget which one) and tartarus. I really don't know how the whole thing will turn out, but i have reason to believe someone will betray the squad, because in the field guide it states to kill "ANYTHING" that gets in the way of your mission - the emphasis on anything is suspicious...

The line "Orders are orders," means that she cannot betray her squad, only her squad her. But that'd be treason against the Navy.

i thought that was pretty strange too. i believe she thinks she is doing this for good and for the sake of the unsc but actually what she is doing is immoral

You could make this a full transcript from the intro... i mean the better detailled the context, the better the theory. And you could start including all the other stuff too, that's mentioned elswhere.

Drink up baby, stay up all night.
With the things you could do, you won't but you might.
The potential you'll be, but you'll never see.
The promises you'll only make.

First of all. You don't even know what she's going to do.
Second. Morality is but a matter of opinion.

You just helped me realize something. Why can't we all be patient and let the plot unfold as it was intended instead of trying to decipher bits and pieces of the story as it is in the beginning.

First of all. i'm INFERING what i THINK she might POSSIBLY do. it's not like i'm coming out saying i completely designed the plot on my own and was revealing it to everyone.

Second of all. the characters Morals are based off bungie's opinion. if bungie thinks it's right to kill people for their own good then why didn't they put that person as the hero. because if so then the covenenant's the good guys in bungie's point of view.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

yes but those bosses are completely different species. i don't think many people would like it if it seems like your fighting the same boss twice except they look different.

War, War never changes.

Got my Recon from the Vidmaster achievments, like most.
Reach IS awesome, don't deny it

'Orders are orders' that line shows that it isnt her decision, its the higher ups in ONI most likely.

question. What does she mean by "replacements"?

As if those odsts weren't a part of Buck's squad before?

I like the "Kill them because they saw something they shouldn't have" idea.
