The High Prophets (Truth, Regret, Mercy) at this point had decided that Brutes were better than Elites, and started to replace Elites with Brutes in major positions. The Honor Guard change occurs shortly after the events of Halo 3: ODST, but the Brutes being sent into New Mombasa is the first act by the Prophets to rid the Covenant of Elites. Basically, New Mombasa was the first act by Truth to put himself on the way to becoming a God, which would happen when he led the Covenant. He felt that the Elites had done nothing to kill the humans in this long war, so he found it the right time to give Brutes power. He had always planned to be the leader of the Covenant, the sole leader, and by letting the Elites, a race that he knew was not trustworthy, guard the Prophet of Regret and Delta Halo, he was able to kill Regret (indirectly). Also, he had "parked" High Charity close enough to Halo so that Flood could get there, and once again, by letting Elites guard Delta Halo, that ensured that the Flood could get to High Charity, and on his way out, he makes sure that Mercy is taken. This is also why he tells Tarturas to not save him. Also, he knew that the Brutes were not witty enough to know when being used, so he perfectly uses them to try and stop the humans. The Elites by this time had begun to figure out that their leaders were lying, useless scum. It started with the Heretics led by Sesa 'Refumee, and it quickly spread to most Sangheili, Thel Vadamee and Rtas' Vadam being 2 more early Elites to see. The Brutes had blind faith, and would follow Truth for anything.

the prophets never thought at any point that the elites were not as good as the brutes. they chose the brutes because they were easier to control

this started off sane, then slowly headed towards kooky.

If anything, the Brutes were left on Earth to secure the area and attempt to locate the position of the portal. In First Strike, Brutes were ceremonial guards, so they had some degree of experience doing religious missions with holy objectives.

Last thing Truth wanted was his holy city to get taken over by Flood, because that's not ridding himself of Elites, it's gaining more enemies. It's true that Truth didn't like Regret that much, but Mercy was already 2nd in command to him.

that's all i really care to comment on.

I thought that there was no elites because elites had been recalled to regret and brutes were sent to earth to look for that place you see on halo 3s campaign level tsavo highway/storm, im not sure though, but at this time regret was the one in charge of the invasion of earth? so he may of ordered the brutes to stay on earth because he didnt like them? i dunno lol seems resonable to me

Nothing is better than gaming through the day, into the night, then back into the day. It's like when you finally push that power button you feel like you've accomplished nothing, but at the same time, you can't stop smiling.

Good info, but you REALLY need to use paragraphs.
