yh it is kinda lame, most halo fans buy the maps on release and now you just get them for free with the game , thats just stupid and unfair to the people who have payed for them
but then yet again , you have the maps on the game so u can play them at friends house u dont have a logn loading time anymore
halo3:odst will be awesome i think , even if it only has 3 new maps on top of the 24 from halo3 they will still make dlc for it

The horde mode is the only thing that I play anymore in Gears of War so the firefight will give me a reason to play halo stuff instead of ignoring it for a year.

The main disappointment is that they have not talked about (and I'm guessing won't be doing) customization for the firefight/campaigns. It adds an extreme amount of replay when I can choose the guns I want for a whole map, turn on infinite ammo or not, decide that I want all 8 grenades to be plasmas and none other, stuff like that.

If it's unlockable by playing the game a lot, that's fine, I just want more options for the campaign and there is no reason not to include options and give players a choice on what they want to do.

If you don't want it, don't get it!

But seriously Halo 3:ODST looks awesome and it's different to halo 3 campaign as it is a big open map which adds replay value. The firefight mode looks awesome and every time you play it you will know a little more and maybe last a little longer.

But bottom line is-

Don't get it!

I understand this game is an expansion, but I have no reason to buy the game anymore. What do I get..

2 New Map (already have Mythic)
Everything else in the game is me playing basically a single player game, it's always you vs computers or you and friends vs computers.
Entry to Beta (willing to bet they do this again in a different game, that migh be worth buying) or they will simply sell openings to the event "this is a money making world"

Since the start of Halo, FPSer are simply boring if you only get to play against computers. The games get repetitive very quickly. It's nothing more than playing Zombies on COD:5 over and over again for $60.

Ha... I think this is going to be a big floop, most of the people I know hate the idea of just another campaign and firefight (oh but wait, you can't play against people just A.I)

k u know u get all the previous maps plus the 3 new ones

May the Forge be with you.

Bioshock did pretty well without online play. I think ODST -- which is part of one of the most popular video game franchises ever -- will be just fine.

well that's you, there are plenty of people like me who regularly go into campaign with a ffull party doing legendary with about 12 skulls on.

firefight is going to be the best thing since halo CE for me.

I will be upset if the campaign isn't atleast as long as halo 3.

Be upset. Bungie's already stated that it is 3-4 hours long.

What! :( well that sucks. It's not going to stop me from buying it. Plus where was that announced?

new campaign + new multiplayer mode + all maps + beta for next game = epic victory

Bungie doesn't disappoint.

If you don't want it why complain to everyone else on how you aren't getting it. TBH nobody cares what you spend your money on here.

I think it will be a great addition, especially the campaign aspect.

First of all, it's 3 new maps. Second, you must not have a lot of friends to play it with.

I have friends like to compete, and playing against A.I. is a joke. Campaign online was fun the first time but after that, that's all this game will be.

Then go play Call of Duty and stfu

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

Then don't buy the game. Is it really that complicated? The game obviously isn't for you but you have to understand that Halo fans have been asking for something like Firefight for a very long time. The campaign expansion is something for the hardcore Halo fans and so is the Reach BETA.

People who purchase this game are Halo fans. True Halo fans. Of course, it will probably land quite a bit of sales just for Firefight, but people here on these forums talking about ODST are true fans.

Bungie knows this and as a result, the ability to unlock Recon armor is going to be given out. Bungie loves us, and we love them (majority of us do).

Then don't buy it.

Yep. Except that when the Halo 3 beta came out, everybody scrambled to get their hands on copies of Crackdown, which was a horrible game (okay, not horrible, but certainly not noteworthy). Basically, people were willing to pay $60 just to get into the Halo 3 beta.

Fast forward a few years. Now, we can spend $60 not just for entry into a beta, but also for the complete multiplayer side of Halo 3 with every map included as well as a new campaign and a brand new multiplayer mode. If you were one of the kids who paid $60 to play in the Halo 3 beta, you should be salivating at this opportunity.

If not, then maybe you're just a jaded, fun-hating pessimist who would rather spend $60 on something that's actually productive... Psh...

I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

I don't see why an only single player game is so bad? The Half-Life series has always been single player, and it's one of my favorite FPS franchises. Personally, I prefer campaigns over player vs. player multiplayer, so ODST is going to be a win for me.

Five Tenets of Bungie.net Forum Life:
1. Trolls will always be well fed.
2. Blame-ability thy name is stosh.
3. Bungie has no control over retail prices.
4. Watch out for low-flying defense drones.
5. Seven is not optional, but rather, an inevitability.

Considering the fact that ODST was never touted to be a multiplayer expansion, one would imagine the addition of Firefight and every single Halo 3 map released with the original Halo 3 disc and Xbox Live DLC map packs would be enough to sate any reasonable Halo fan.

Oh, wait... that was as oxymoron, wasn't it?

If you want to play matchmaking just hop on the original Halo 3. You can still earn recon and use that in Halo 3.

I think Firefight is a good idea, and if you payed any attention to their post then you would know that every time you play it, it changes.

ODST is great.

I'm sure the campaign will be much longer than Halo 3's. That has been their primary focus (there isn't any changes to multiplayer besides Firefight) so they have more time with it. And hopefully since they have had more time with campaign, it should be much more fun. That is, in theory.

You can play online, and you get the other three mythic maps.

I can play online but ONLY AGAINST A.I never people <-- this so something most people are not understanding. You get FireFight, the game is you stopping waves of people. The multiplayer aspect remains the exact same as it is today.

Good, I'd like a break from the herd of whiny idiots that is X-box Live. I'll take a little 4-player campaign/Firefight over that.

It's true that Bungie hasn't had to focus on multiplayer balance for ODST, but considering their compressed development schedule, I'd say that the campaign will likely be about equal in length to Halo 3's.
