I don't populate my friends list with randoms and I was just pointing out that there are more people playing Halo 3 at any given time than any other game out there.
And not all those people are my friends. The vast majority of my friends dislike Halo for some unknown reason and hardly ever play it. Most don't even own it. The rest simply prefer playing other games instead of Halo. Since I typically don't add randoms to my friends list, this leaves me with no options to play Firefight besides Matchmaking or two player splitscreen.
Or you can come on here, and post to find 3 people to play with, then if you become friends with them, you expand your friend list and so on. Trust me, it's how I made friends when I first got live for Halo 2. I didn't use matchmaking to make friends, I used the Bungie forums.
While I'd be open to trying your solution if they don't implement matchmaking, it doesn't mean that they shouldn't. As someone stated above, it is a $60 game. Also, matchmaking is just so much more convenient. And while I would much rather play with my friends than randoms, sometimes there's just no alternative, Halo 3 forum or no.
