It's likely i'll be playing Firefight more than Matchmaking.

We're talking about matchmaking for firefight.

Firefight is built on top of the campaign networking model. There's no matchmaking functionality.

i cant see it coming into the original release, but as DLC it could be a huge possibility.

Fingers Crossed =)

Quoted from: http://www.bungie.net/projects/odst/features.aspx#firefight
Drop feet first into a new way to play Halo with the cooperative campaign mode, Firefight. Form a squad of your friends over System Link or Xbox LIVE and put your skills to the ultimate test against the invading Covenant war machine for glory, high scores, and achievements. Do battle in multiple environments, on foot or in vehicles, and against increasingly difficult waves of Covenant attackers while Halo 3's skull modifiers progressively activate to up the ante.

After the Firefight, relive and review every last kill you earned and see how your high scores and stats stack up against your friends' and the community overall using Bungie.net's persistent online stats and Firefight leaderboards.

I quoted Bungie's ODST page just for the record.

I too think having the ability to 'find players' would be a welcome feature for both Campaign and other, non Matchmaking, game modes such as Firefight.

(Sorry, cool-guy-only link.)

If there is no matchmaking for Firefight then Bungie has lost cool points big time.

Thats bad news....
Why no matchmaking, i mean all the "big"- titles have it !

It would make things easier considering my girlfriend and I really don't have two other people to play with.

first of all, giggity. second, they should have it just so you could play it when noone else is on.

NO!!!!

But why? So may games have done Survival modes before and all of the have had matchmaking functionality! Why couldn't it be done?

This is what ruined Online Co-op for me but that wasn't a proper feature. This is a major selling point to ODST and well, practically makes Firefight unplayable by me. or at least, unenjoyable.

Never been so sad over a video game...

I really hope Bungie reconsiders this.

Yes, I see that it wont be with the game but maybe they will try to make it in a update or something.

I guess what we have to do is when ODST comes out we just completely flood the forums telling them to make it have MM.

I didn't even think about MM until I looked at this, now I am so pissed. I have no point to play this now, I like random players, thats why I like Gears version and N-Zombies from W@W.

If Bungie were good people they will do this for us.

Yeah. I don't have many friends on XBL so Matchmaking on Firefight would be nice.
Yes. Hope Bungie reconsiders.

Well, I do have a brother, and a couple of friends that play Halo 3 and say they will be getting it. I just guess it will be a game mode I'll play like once or twice a month. But still, it shouldn't have to be like that, games have had this in them for a LONG time now, and they all done it right, why not a big game like Halo?

When people think of games 3 games come to mind, Mario, Sonic, and Halo. So your telling me that the biggest online video game around can't even have a working MM for its new games only online mode?

:(

At least the should implement a function to Create and Join a server like in ANY other multiplayer game!! Otherwise Firefight will get boring very fast because you always have to find some friends that want to play. And for me as a casual player, thats pretty hard.

Well, I think the only reason left to buy ODST is the campaign. But 60EUR??

We should keep up this thread and cry until they build in MM ;)

Its too late now I guess. Unless Bungie decides to try and resolve it now, I don't think this is something that can be patched.

One of the first times I've been disappointed by Bungie but...what're you gonna do, huh?

Looks like a rent now though.. :(

J23: Ready 4 Anything
We must move forward. Learn, Improve, Evolve

Would be nice but it isn't designed for it, it like horde in Gears of War 2, there's a lot of rounds that go until you die, play as a character, use you skill and team work with other players or by your self. Fire Fight should be fine how it is

  • 06.11.2009 5:46 AM PDT

Why wasn't Firefight built to allow for matchmaking? Normally, it'll be rather hard to collect enough people who want to play firefight together.

  • 06.11.2009 6:09 AM PDT

Old School

considering non of my friends on xlive play halo 3 anymore, i would loved to have had a matchmaking feature, it would actually help in makin more halo 3 friends added to the list.

No. Sorry i would rather go with friends rather than go with morons that i know will betray me. It would be more fun with friends anyway.

Imho his is the only disadvantage of the Halo games compared to other big multiplayer titles, and i dont see any reason why Bungie does´nt include it...
:(
And like Sanjeev said it would have been an OPTION!
