after you beat odst can you go back in the city and explore?

or is it when you beat it... that's it?

it would be really cool if you could clear the city of enemies and then be able to explore and play around in it.

this would also be amazing for machinima if you could do so

I HATE it when you just beat a kickass game then you have to completely restart it.

Probably not. Remember, this is an FPS, not an RPG, so much of the design of the game will be based on the story, which you must replay, rather than an explorable setting.

Hey, KOTOR fan! Yeah, I agree.

Maybe, and maybe not, they have put a lot more stuff into the game that halo 3 did not have. So we will just wait and see. *stares at clock until september 22nd comes*

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

A soldier has to rest, or move on.

Afterall Truth is on his way. You can't just move in somewhere.

I do not appreciate B.Net Group solicitation. If you ignore this and send me an invitation anyway, I will block communications with you.

Chances are no.

But then, you can just start up another game and explore the city instead of inspecting the beacons, so it's kind of the same thing, no?

Meh, Bungie said this would be a free-roam game, when they first revealed it, but they took the phrase, "free-roam", kind of out of proper context. It is not going to be like GTA 4. The free-roam, thing they were talking about is, that if you replay the game ten-times, the likely hood of you take taking the same path as before is very slim. What that means is-
You will be put into a circle, and you, yourself have to find the flashbacks of the other squads, and it doesn't matter in what order.
Which is a new concept because, in previous games, you were basicly put into a rectangle and you just had to go forward in one direction.
Once you beat the game, you're going to most-likely, have replay the game. Like i said before, this is not GTA4.

Wow, I thought I was the only one left!

@ OP, since the point of the game is to "link up with your squad and escape the city", I doubt that you will be able to keep going after the story is done. It would be nice though.

Your friendly and eccentric Sangheili forum-poster. :)

Yeah I'd hate to have an open city like that and have to restart every time you completed it. They should leave it open so you can search for easter eggs and other unlockables.

I think it will end, but if might not - you never know. If it does and, I'll just keep my save from the second-last mission or so. I know that I'll end up playing the campaign many times either way...

Spinning a plate on a stick is impressive, but if you try to spin three at once then you'll just end up digging porcelain out of your face.

The man makes a valid point, no?

War never decides who is right; only who is left.

On this point, how will the campaign be separated? Most FPSs have levels, this is more or less just one big city. I guess what I'm asking is: Can we go jump into a certain part of the campaign or do we have to start from the beginning every time?

  • 06.04.2009 4:54 PM PDT

I hope so...

I wonder if we will still be teleported when we get to far from our teammates..
