For you campaign jocks out there:
The campaign is my favorite part of the original halo games. I have always enjoyed the variety of enemies in the game, but for this one, I think bungie should create new opponents for us to destroy. Reach is due in over a year. While I would love the idea of ODST, I dont think bungie has the time (or a big enough team) to create a new race, and so im hoping in reach they will expand the enemies. Even covenant that already exist should be given new roles. I have some ideas, they may not be the best, but I would like to see them as enemies in a game.
Im pretty sure no flood will appear, (there may be sentinels) but i am just covering the covies)
1. since elites are the main foes in this episode, I would like to see new elite units. One could be like ODSTs. In halo2, some elites were shot down to earth in pods like ODSTs on the level outskirts. These could be used during crecendo (spelling) events that are staged. They would be armed with fast, light weaponry like the energy sword or plasma rifles. Another thought I had during halo wars. The honor guard wraith got me thinking. What if some of the vehicles in the FPS game were piloted by elite crews? some of these might include ace banshee wings, Tank commander wraith brigades, or spec opps ghost squads. They would behave differently from other units, and would have a highly visible and frightening paint finish to them. Destroying these would cause all near covenant ground troops to retreat or at least demoralized to the point where they fight sluggishy.
2. some other things might be elite hunter pairs using some different weaponry. mabey instead of a fuel rod cannon, in a pair, they might both have neelder shotguns as a reward for killing X humans. Just spice it up.
3. Brutes. Brutes should be more like they acted in halo2. Despite how much bungie tried to make the brutes deadlier than in halo2, they(in my eyes) did not live up to the absolute ferocity of halo2s brutes. Halo3 brutes berserked whenever their sheilds went down, sometimes berserking with weapons blazing, however; halo2 brutes had much more health, depite having no power armor, and the worst part about them is that it took multiple headshots to take one down. When a brute berserked in halo2 as the result of being the only one left in tis squad, it BERSERKED. They moved lightning fast and, regardless of the total lead percenatge of their bodies, kept comming. like a grizzly bear charging at.you. Halo3=1 headshot to clean him up.
If they put brutes in reach they should be deployed like special forces as not to one up the elites. They might even have a new vehicle, like a tank which has room for 8-10 brutes which is fast and quickly deployed, catching spartans off guard.
4.as for grunts , it would be cool to see them EVERYWHERE on the battlefeild. They might be doing some petty tasks, like mining a road or unloading equipment, then you catch them off guard.
5.jackals were pushovers in halo3, the overcharged shot from a PP should do health damage. Also they need better scripting. of all the ai in the series, the jackals have the worst IQ. When i read the books they said like the jackals were elite mercenaires. all I ever see them do is stand in one spot and hold that sheild, mabey shoot off a few overcharged shots. they have always had so much potential for combat, but never got the chance. One idea is that when jakals attack, they attack TOGETHER. forming a wall of sheilds, they slowly advance on human postions like the ancient greeks did thousands of years ago at thermopaly.(spelling) mabey since the brute leaders give off oreder like "use your grenades!" a jackle group might all use overcharged bolts at once in a massive volley. Which leads me to th fact that jackals never operate under other jackals. A jackal captian might have a mauler or something of the like, along with body armor like the halo1 jackles with a larger energy sheild. One last thing-Jackal wristsheilds should be a duel-weildable weapon.
6.Drones should be in larger spaces more often. I beleive that one time in halo2 I was driving around in the new mombassa tunnel when ALL OF A SUDDEN drones swarmed all over my warthog, highjacked me, bashed my window up, and left me a smoldering pile of waste seconds later. Mabey they could be given an easier time while hijaking you? they rarley do it unless you are standing still in your vehicle.
7.Any new covenant species would be a plus for me. Even if it is the engineers. i honestly cannot think of anything they would do in combat, but it would be cool (to me)
