Hopefully not. NATAL will literally KILL off the FPS genre. If microsoft truly plans to eradicate the controller than they will also kill great games such as Halo and Assassins creed. Think about it, Halo will definatly not work with NATAL. Lol someone earlier posted "Who knows if Halo : Reach will be a competitive game at all?" Seriously think before u post please. Then it wouldnt be halo. The thing that makes Halo so successful is the multiplayer and how amazing Bungie is at keeping the system going. Halo is by far the greatest online game thus far. Anyway, i digress. If NATAL accomplishes its goal then Microsoft can say goodbye to anyone who wants to play FPS games or games as interactive as Assassins creed.

how would it know where that grenade went how would you aim it. overall how would you shoot? do the little finger pistol thing?

First of all the grenade's trajectory would be calculated by natal to where it goes height, force in the throw, etc.
Second you would act like you're holding a gun and pull you index finger back as if pulling a trigger.

If you could use Natal in a FPS, it would make the game unfair for some.

For example...

What if Chuck Norris bought Halo 3 and Natal?

Enough said....

Chuck don't need Natal man, he just stares at his xbox and it turns on >goes into> Hardcore> MLG>automatic perfection> game over> rank up to 50.....repeat in Team SWAT...

where do you think all those For-sale-50s come from on eBay....

True man, so true. LOL. Except he doesnt even have to play the games, it just auto gives him his 50's so he doesnt have to repeat as you said.

Look dude there is no possible way that they can pull it off. This is micro$oft we're talking about. They ship broken material all the time. Regardless, it just wont happen. The demo's they showed us didnt allow the person to actually move, the movement was programmed into it already. You won't be able to run full scale maps it'll be like one hallway or some -blam!-.

This is microsoft were talking about and think of this when the game console race was on (sony ps3, nint. wii, micro. 360) Microsoft won

how do you change weapons throw a grenade and jump?. it is not meant to be played w/ fast paced games as halo

To jump you just jump, for switching weapons and grenades you would use Natal's voice command feature. For throwing grenades you could just swing your arm as if throwing a grenade.

What if your having in game chat for the voice commands? The game will mix it up and -blam!- you over or as someone else said if its the clutch game tied 49-49 and youre killing someone. Your'e not gonna be fast enough to say "Command, switch weapon" and have time to kill him! You'll be dead by then!

I would have agrred with you but since i'm sending in my 5th xbox for the Red Ring i'm having my doubts. I'm an xbox fanboy all the way, its just disappointing to see their work ethic, thats all

earlier someone said something about controller integration. Maybe they could have wireless headsets so you can give commands and talk at the same time.

The ring of death has been fixed on the new consoles so you can't really use that.

  • 06.05.2009 5:13 PM PDT

Then you'd have to press a button or something. Its just not possible!

So you'll have to stop firing and wave your arm to issue a command?? Lol idk how theyre gonna pull it off but if they do, kudos to them.

shoot with one hand, anything else with the other.

But then its not realistic. You'll hold the gun with two hands, unless its a pistol, ya no?

judging by the fact that nobody else will reply i belive I've have prove my point right and yours wrong. Natal would be able to be pulled off for sure, but iut still remains if it will actually be done.

in game the spartan has to release one hand to throw a grenade, it's completely real, plus spartans have super strength why do you think they can flip over elephants on sandtrap

Like many in this thread, I also would hate to see Natal in this game. It is not near what it needs to be to handle a FPS. Natal could be cool and all, especially in RPG's, but I don't see it in real active games for quite a long time.

Also concerning the movement of Natal and an FPS, many people, myself included, would have to completely redesign their bedrooms to make room. And please! no way this would work in a dormroom without roundhouse kicking someone in the face. Wii works but with the dynamic motion Natal is promising, I don't think it would be feasible.

And who wants to stand up to play a video game? I for one must veg out in a Tourettes Guy 'esque pose, complete with neck brace!

I am not sure if anyone could last more than one game using Natal, just imagine all the jumping, runing, throwing granades, teabaging (Damn tiresome), etc... Dude not even an athlete can do so many activities at once. Not saying it is a bad idea to do exercise, but no one will last more than one match.
