around these days so many things have been said, between those things there was this topic about melee, about how ODST's are weaker than spartans bla bla bla etc, etc. Today i checked out the news named Drop Into Firefight and in the controllers there is melee, but my question is, will melee still be as powerfull like in halo 3? or it will be just like to push back the covenant units??

feel free to express your opinion.

i doubt u can launch the brutes across a map but im sure we can do damage to em. maybe a knife or something would be cool.

Don't think it will do crap against brutes.

Which is why you have an overpowered SMG to make up for your lack of close quarter prowess.

and how!

I really HOPE that it will only be effective against weaker units such as Grunts and Jackals, but even unshielded Brutes will be able to take quite a beating if they go with canon. However...we have seen multiple screenshots as well as gameplay footage of Buck holding a detached Machinegun Turret....so you never know.

[I for one really don't like the whole turret part, it ruins the feeling of being a regular soldier instead of a Spartan. Now it seems more of being an unshielded Spartan.]

Pretty sure punching someone in the face will still hurt.

Lets go find a space gorilla and punch it then.

In actuality a "laser" weapon would not have any recoil at all, the recoiling animation was put it to make it feel more powerful when you are using it because no one seems to understand how a laser actually works.

Spartans are from Venus and Elites are from Uranus

Bungie hasn't really said anything about it but I'd think it probably doesn't do as much as it did in Halo 3. Regardless, with the ODST not being able to take as much punishment I doubt going in for a melee is the best idea unless your put in a position where you haven't much choice.

And even then most people don't seem to understand that weapons like RPGs do not have recoil either.

"When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give EL1TE SUPR3MACY lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

I was watching the ODST E3 Demo on IGN and it took more than one melee to kill an unshielded Brute. The melee has definitely been nerfed a little in ODST.

the thing knocks back a spartins arm unless thats him trying to cool it down and at any rate
the odst should not be able to punch brutes to death it makes sinse that spartins can do it

wtf

A laser doesn't have recoil.

In the video on the Bungie News section today, it looks like Melee wasn't tweaked at all. A guy fired at a Brute a bit, punched him, and his shields went out.

Which is a shame, because I was hoping this would be shieldless and you'd be unable to punch literally to save your own life. Turns out you have shields (they're called Stamina now) and you have a pretty solid punch.

Only a slight disappointment in the face of ODST's remaining awesome, though.
