I agree no Halo CoD everyone hates the M16 cause it's got burst fire so everyone would hate the BR cause it has Burst Fire. So why make it like CoD keep it like it is dont change it it's fine.

No offense, but the new player needs to learn that that's the way the game is played. It's like giving him invincibility to make sure he can't die, because that wouldn't be fun.

But still you think it's fun for it to be overly realistic?

I think there's a balance to be struck.

And how is being able to punch out a half ton gorrila overly realistic?!?

It's not but it's still fun I not trying to discredit you what you have said is logical but all I'm saying is it's a game.

If we want to throw in more Canon stuff no fuel rods should be weilded by Marines because in First Strike I believe Lockhear couldnt carry a Fuel Rod Gun but a Grunt could. Do you want it to be like that?

Yes. Besides, the Fuel Rod Gun (H1) is different to the Fuel Rod Cannon (H2/3)

Like I said before, in the end, Bungie isn't going to change any of these things, so I guess players who want to match the canon will just have to make a conscious decision to play that way, for example high difficulty, no melee, no running around with a turret, no noscoping, limited use of healthpacks etc. At least that's how I'm going to do it.

I agree with you on higher difficulties it is gonna be increidabley hard and for me I am going to conserve my ammuntion and my grenades Health kits etc. Because your gonna need them when I grunt can cut your throat with a Rusty Spoon.

You're hitting him with the gun, not your fist.

Its the same, It doesnt matter what is the object the ODST is hitting the Brute with. The thing is, he is underpowered. The Chief, a SPARTAN: a human that was taken away from his parents at the age of six, went through the hardest of trainings and incredibly painful biological augmentations, can only hurt a Brute with melee using a weapon. How can a better-than-average marine do the same?

The melee's not going to be the same, everything is weaker for an ODST. It's not like getting hit with a heavy steel piece of equipment won't do ANY damage. Hell in the video he unloaded on a Brute with an SMG, it lost all shields, he hit it, and it still lived.

He could have cracked his skull or something it's metal versus bone even if it is an Alien it'll still crack like normal bone.

Because the ODSTs eat their Wheaties every morning. It's got all the stuff a growing soldier in the middle of a losing war with aliens needs. :p

Look, the books makes you like the UNSC, makes you feel good about the marines, and it is it's pourpose to make you feel at home when reading about them. But facts point the other way, the books also stablish a really thick line between the quality of combat of the Covenant and the UNSC, by showing multiple lost battles on both land and space.

I want to know where in the books does it says that the Covenant are not well trained... The books can't stress more the fact that the marines suck, the UNSC suck, and the Covenant are killing us with ease.

I will try to re explain. Both the ODST and the SPARTAN are hitting hte Brute with the same object and doing the same amount of damage. The SPARTAN is way stronger, by training and biological enhancement, so it is unlogical than a ODST can do the same damage as John or Linda or Kelly or Fred or Kurt.

Well, first off. This is a game, and it is meant to bring fun to the people who play it. If you were not able to do many of the stuff that is "not Realistic" in ODST then this game would be impossible. Also when it all comes down to it.

Maybe his armor gives him a boost of strength. Those suits seem to give you every other power in the world.

On First Strike, almost at the end, they do. John and another girl Spartan (who dies in the process)

Also, the fact that the Brute reacts to the ODST punch just the same as he does when John punches him can give you a good hint on how equally their strenght is. And the fact is, a ODST punch should never even move a Brute.

Lol still if that happened in game that ODST must be thinking "Why did I sign up for this war".
BTW if that was in game I would just run everytime I saw one it looks like it could rip a wall in half lol.

Actually please play the level "The Ark" and compare the sizes, there isn't much difference. John's height is over 2meters...

It's big yeah, but I mean that's how big the brutes really are described. They're like 8 feet tall, with MC coming in a head shorter, and a little marine/ODST in a fighting (****ing his pants) stance would look pitiful against a brute reared up to full height.

  • 06.04.2009 10:12 PM PDT

ODST Romeo

It also says that Marines would be killed or severely hurt from just one needle from a needler bu no one complained about that...
