Ahhhhh!

Alright im gonna skip all of the intelligent wording, paraphrasing, and manipulation of text and just get right out and say it. I have a theory. Ok so pay attention, in the end of Halo 3, after the credits, we see Master Chief floating towards a planet like construct. And as the music builds you see a light crescent the construct, lighting it up and revealing it to be made of some type of metal. No doubt inconclusive in origin. Alright now if you have read Ghosts of Onyx, then you know that some of Master Chiefs team, some of the new generation of Spartans, Dr. Halsey, and CPO Mendez, are locked safely inside the Onyx structure, along with some unidentified beings, which may be Forerunner. Anyway one of my thoughts is that Master Chief as seen in the Legendary ending of Halo 3, is floating toward a metal structure. And what happened to Onyx? It "shed" its crust revealing that the structures real surface is metal. So my theory is that Master Chief is floating towards Onyx, and might meet up with the group locked inside Onyx. But there is one hole in this theory I have found so far. In Fall of Reach, the author says that John never sees CPO Mendez again, as follows on page 101. "Good bye," Chief Mendez said.
He turned briskly on his heel and strode from the room.
John never saw him again.
Alright so either CPO Mendez dies before Chief reaches them, or I am way off base, but, as I said, this is just a theory. And now I come to why this is in the Halo Reach forum. I have mulled this theory over since i saw the Legendary ending to Halo 3, wow im getting really repetitive. I know alot of people have read the Halo books, but some of them still have not. And were Bungie to take this route to the story, it would leave plenty of really confused fans. So my first thought was that Bungie would have to create a game about the events on Reach when it fell for people to understand what was going on if Bungie created a game with similiar details from the above theory. So when I saw Halo Reach I thought, 'Perfect match.' But as a great theorist once said, "The moment I thought about it, it was already one hundred percent in MY head." I hope you enjoyed and if you have any comments, have any ideas that support it or poke holes in it, go ahead, im looking for answers and clues. Thnx! (:

Your theory might work and would be a good reason why bungie has decided to do this game. (Another is their plan for world domination.) I could possibly see this happening.

A strong theory and it seems logical. Now the silhouettes as I see them are from right to left Sam, Kelly, John, Fred, and Linda. I only write this because you seem to know the books well. Do you think all of these fit the picture?

Ahhhhh!

I cant really say man. I only had the liberty of reading the book once before it was destroyed by a drunken friend of mine. (; But i was planning on picking it up again to see if I missed anything important. And thanks guys for all the positive input.

I thought Onyx was made out of sentinals that were below the crust? I am actaually positive about that. The planet then fell apart.

Ahhhhh!

Hmmm, as i have said its been a while since I read the books, so ill get back to you with more details as soon as i get the book again. But as I recall Dr.Halsey, CPO Mendez, the new generation{I will now be referring to them as Ackersons Spartans, if I may be so bold}, and Chiefs team are now within a construct. My theory is that they went through a Forerunner portal to the inside of the planet/construct Onyx. But as I said I have only read the book once and cant be 100 percent. But if what you say is true, and Onyx was destroyed, maybe they took the portal to another planet like construct and are within the "middle" of it. Now this is where it gets very interesting. As you saw in Halo Wars the A.I. Serena, quite frankly, stated that they were inside of the planet Harvest at one point. And it looked very much like the construct Halo, but it was spherical in shape, so you were inside a sphere, that, on all sides, surrounded you by lakes, oceans, landforms, and storms just like Halo. And if I remember correctly, the group i believed to be locked inside Onyx, were looking at something quite similiar to what was seen in Halo Wars. Which brings one other theory on this forum into context. Another theorist believes that the planet Chief is floating towards is Reach, which may make sense. Because the group from Onyx could have been transported to the inside of Reach, if Onyx was destroyed. And i don't know the name of the post of the aforementioned Reach theorist was but he had pictures comparing the two planets/constructs; the planet/construct from Halo: Reach, and the Legendary ending planet/construct from Halo 3.They looked incredibly similiar. And if you've read the books Reach is mentioned alot and so many interesting things happen on its surface and within. And it seems lately that Reach is becoming more of a focal point. Fill in the blanks, my heads starting to hurt. (: And if this is indeed the case, there is gonna be some freaky -blam!- goin on in Halo 4.

Ahhhhh!

Oh and i just thought of something else. The Covenant glassed part of Earth to gain access to the "Ark". Maybe thats what the Covenant did to Reach, they started to glass the entire planet but then saw something beneath the surface. They then proceeded to uncover the rest of the planet and found it to be a Forerunner construct. But there is a hole, did somebody, namely the Chief stumble upon Reach after it was glassed? And if so in what time frame, and were the Covenant complete with the glassing of the planet, still in progress? Oh and did Chief actually see Reach or did he enter on the edge of the system? I know its confusing and thank you for bearing with me while i jump from one idea and situation to one thats millions of lightyears away from the original. As i have said before thank you for commenting and showing me new paths to embark and speculate upon.

your theory is plausible and the story for Halo 3 was definitely written after Fall of Reach was written so there could be errors. nothing is perfect.

Halo 3 Academy Staff
RvB Episode 100- Sarge destroying computer Vic says "Whoa dude that was my Heat Sink now how the f*** am I going to sink my heat"

PETA: People for the Eating of Tasty Animals

im thinking something similar but that it is another shield world that leads to the same place so they can meet up

with Mendez that can just be overlooked since it is so minor a point and not in the games

  • 06.05.2009 12:10 AM PDT

Ahhhhh!

I could see it being overlooked, and if im the only one that noticed this detail, IM A HUGE NERD!

SAM WAS NOT KILLED BEFORE REACH! He Like all Spartans was raised on Reach and was killed before the destruction of Reach. He never got the shielded power armor and is killed in one of the Spartans first missions when a Jackal gets him in the side with a plasma pistol. If this is an oragin story then Sams death would be an exelent plot point to include. Also he is described in the books as being larger than the other Spartans and he focuses on heavy weapons and demolition so that is why the picture fits him perfectly.
