Since the game halo 3 ODST is in a open world when you die would you spawn if you just did a flash back thing went down somwhere and got killed would you spawn where the clue was or would you spawn where you got out of the drop pod?

Reach needs to be patched. It's the truth.

Maybe you'd spawn at the closest medical unit

I was wondering the same thing myself. The whole open world thing kinda dodges around the whole checkpoint system that has been used on all of the other Halo games before.
I think it will make sense for there to special hotspots in the city that when you enter them it saves like a checkpoint did previously. The beacons where the clues are sounds like a good place to put these at.
Another possibility which seems a little unlikey is that you have the ability to save anywhere you want.

Take your pick.

Did you notice that we posted at the same time?

And I am going to have to check what you have said because I never noticed the checkpoint messages in the demos. I am sure that is what it is though. It makes the most sense.

EDIT: I checked back at the demo and it didn't take me long to notice the Checkpoint done indicators. Good catch.
