"Bungie controls everything. You have no rights. Play nice."
For the last time its TURRETS not TORRENTS. A TORRENT is either a peer to peer file sharing protocol or a violently fast stream of water. A TURRET is a self-contained weapons platform housing guns and capable of rotation. And TURRENT isn't even a word.
Why does everyone think that Project Natal and a controller are mutually exclusive? A game doesn't have to be 100% Natal. Natal doesn't just recognize motion. It also recognizes voices.
Its capable of recognizing 4 voices at a time. Its also capable of recognizing four faces. It may be capable of recognizing colors. By extension, it may be able to recognize who is holding what controller. Some of you can see where I'm going with this.
Imagine you are playing a game of Halo: Reach multiplayer, and for the sake of argument its very similar to Halo 3's. You are playing four player split screen on Live multiplayer and you switch off periodically. As one group of people hands off their color coded controllers to the new team, Natal recognizes the new players faces, then automatically signs the old team out and the new team in, then also acts as headsets for the team, since it can recognize up to four separate voices.
Natal's voice recognition system can also be used to actually issue commands in campaign mode to AI allies. Imagine walking up to a marine and saying "switch with me" to switch weapons instead of hitting a button. Imagine being able to tell your marines to fall back when an Elite with an energy sword shows up so they don't get slaughtered. Imagine being able to actually influence cutscenes with project Natal with hand motions and voice cues.
Microsoft has not once said that just because a game is Natal compatible, that it can't use a controller too. A Natal controller hybrid could potentially create some incredibly immersive games .
