I just had this idea now and it may seem far fetched. H3 ending we see Chief on that planet. I havn't found out what that it. People have been saying it's Onyx and others a glassed Reach. Let's say it's Reach. Chief gets on the planet and maybe you're supposed to get to a ship bay or get to a communications center. It's possible that some Covenant forces and you'll have to get past them to get to your objectives. While getting from Point A to Point B you'll maybe stumble across landmarks that remind you of your days on Reach and VOILA! Flash-back sequence that you get to play out. Also, this is a very crude, not well thought out, speculation post...but I think you guys got the general idea.

  • 06.05.2009 6:58 AM PDT

I see where your going with that, it is an interesting thought, but then we would not know the end from the beginning. I dont think they will take the same flasback approach two games in a row though

It has been CONFIRMED to be a prequel.

No time travel theories, no Master Cheif. (Well maybe Master Cheif, he was on an orbital station when Reach was attacked, and that's it)

i stopped as soon as i read reach.

reach is glassed. the ground is liquid lava/dirt.
on H3 you see the planet has a metallic look with structures on it and lights.

your theory is not new nor original nor correct.

I want it to be a prequel, believe me, Halo: Fall of Reach is a damn good book. But where has it been confirmed that it's in fact a prequel? The only solid concrete information we have on the game is the year it comes out and that it's an FPS. Other than that, we're spitting into the wind.

Your theory of the Halo 3 Planet being metallic is wrong because it doesn't show jack -blam!- in the ending. Those lights? The light around the planet? That light is when you approach a planet in space.

  • 06.05.2009 7:13 AM PDT

But think about it there is a big gap between tha fall of Reach and the frist game I mean the other Spartans never really had a story

yes i dont think that the planet at the end of the legendary is reach either it could be the planet of the third game bungie is coming out with cause they said there was three games coming and we know two of them now so maybe it has something to do with the next game.

Or maybe it is a glassed reach and bungie put Reach in the video to symbolize that a game based on reach was coming out. No time travel. Just a hint that a Reach game is coming out.
But what do I know i am just a fan I am not Bungie.

There's no gap at all... The Fall of Reach ends were the first came picks up. The real gap was between H1 and H2 but the books filled that up along with ODST.

  • 06.05.2009 7:19 AM PDT

No there was at least a 2 Week gap thats a long even for Bungie they probably wanted us to relive though the Spartans on Reach

here's a pic of the planet

you can CLEARLY SEE the planet has structures on it,round shaped, and look like freaking forerunner symbols.
plus, they SHINE, so they OBVIOUSLY have lights on em.

[/thread and your argument]

Watch the Halo: Reach teaser again. When the first explosion goes off (just before it rather) look to the right of it....those "circles" or "symbols" look awfully familiar....hmmm.

z0rgy, you can't tell me both of those planet aren't extremely similar. Those "landmarks" are identicle in spacing, location, and look.

yea... so what?
the planet has been glassed. the surface has been changed into liquid and is now completely plain.

unless humans rebuilt the whole planet in a year (would be funny since the air would be unbreathable and the temperature still superior to 200°c/1000°f) then it means nothing.

also, I don't think cortana would deploy a beacon to be localized later if she was in a known part of the galaxy. she'd simply call the UNSC.

In any event I'm hoping it's in fact a prequel and not a continuation. Good theory session. I say we all go bash some time travel theory Trekkies.

it'll most likely be a prequel. they wouldn't make a game with the name of a glassed planet in it...
I mean, I don't see what kind of game it could be.
Reach is known for the battle between spartans and covies, they'll make the most outta it.

and damn yes, let's bash these time traveling dummies x.x

From the description on that page:
"Halo: Reach, the blockbuster prequel to the Halo trilogy, experience the events that transpired on the planet Reach. Created by acclaimed developer Bungie, Halo: Reach will be available in the fall of 2010 exclusively on Xbox 360."

trekkies hit back btw. and at this point, its entirely possible that master cheif lands on a totally new planet with sentient beings, hence the lights and large buildings. And on the subject of reach, its not molten by the time halo 3 takes place. Only the surface was glassed, not the inside. It cools quickly. I think that halo reach is something totally new, definately not built like the others. If U listen to the podcasts, you would remember one of the staff refering to the then-secret project as TOM CLANCY'S HALO. in short, very gritty. verrrrrry gritty.

spartan armor is temperature controlled and has the highest known heat resistance of any known unsc technology. AND, spartans can recycle air for up to 90 minutes before it becomes unclean. pwned
