Don't look behind you

Ok i watched the trailers and i saw that when a ODSt is shot the screen turns red and then goes away as long as you are not shot as. This is exactly the same as COD. I really liked the COD health and i wanted bungie to bring it into ODST so do you think that it looks like COD kinda?

IT looks a bit like it, but i dont think CoD has a permanent heath bar right?
Ive never played any CoD games so i dont know much about it.

No since you need to find healthpacks to heal unlike CoD.

No, its pretty much the Halo 1 health system

It's similar, but not identical. In CoD, your health recharges over time. In ODST, you have Stamina, and you have Health. You Stamina acts like your shield in Halo 3, so it can recharge in order to protect your health. If your Stamina is down, however, then your health starts to go down. This doesn't recharge by itself, and you need to get a health kit from a health booth, which you can find scattered around the city.

We're building a better world...all of them, better worlds.

It's Halo 3ish. This is what happens when you are hit without a shield. It may not be exact, but it is similar.

Further, Call of Duty does not feature health packs. Instead, health regenerates over time, also much like in Halo 3 (and Halo 2).

Yes because we all know that CoD was the 1st game where screen goes red when you lose health or are close to death..

you have a small "sheild" called stamina which is the red stuff, once you turn too red for too long, it starts cutting into your actual health, which requires health packs

I hate the over use of sarcasm on the Bungie forums.. It's unnecessary and utterly rude. He was merely comparing the health system to that of Call of Duty, not saying that it copied it.

It is a bit, but so is every other modern shooter. In this case, Bungie have made the health system act like Halo 1's. The stamina acts as your energy shield, and if that goes then your health bar starts taking the hits. It'll be interesting to see how it all works out, and just how much more difficult it is to fight the Covenant as an ODST.

u remember the little white health packs in halo 1 thats what there will be but better looking

  • 06.05.2009 7:18 AM PDT

Its more like halo 1, but instead of an energy shield you have "stamina" and it isn't shown on screen.

Vancouver BC, Canada.

It may resemble the Call of Duty health system, but it looks like Bungie is keeping it mighty close to what we're used to.

Yes, because Infinity Ward definately invented that health system and it hasn't been in use for the past 11 years...

I'm watching you!

As far as I know, Bungie invented the health regen system. And nearly every shooter has copied them to date.

I mean super soldiers (spartan) have regenerating sheilds makes sense. But normal marines (COD) doesn't.

Oh and there using an updated version of Halo C.E health system.

  • 06.05.2009 7:54 AM PDT

no. it isn't anything like CoD's health system.

CoD health: the edges of your screen turn red, and it regenerates after you take cover.

ODST health:you can take a small amount of damage before nearly your whole screen turns red, and you start losing health via a health bar. and you regain health, via med packs.

nothing alike, except the screen turns red, and even that still isn't the same.
