Remember Reach!

Since the Rookie is slower than the MC, that's going to be a huge disadvantage.

That makes me wonder if they had enough time to add some kind of "run" feature to the game so you could get a quick burst of speed when you needed it. I guess that would be too much like Gears or COD though. It's probably better to just have the disadvantage of being slower and learning to deal with it in different ways.

I never found Hunters to be that much of a trouble. In all three Halo games I would beat them down a few times and throw stickies on their backs then a few shots.. Unfortunately during Halo one I didn't know beating them down did no damage. I became used to it so I did it for fun. Nothing more disgracful then beatign down a Hunter.

All of that will happen. Lukems mentioned it on the Bungie podcast. he and Sketch got chased into a building by Hunters....Lukems ran and Sketch died...

Wow, that sounds amazing. I really need to listen to the podcast! It sounds like there are going to be a lot of situations that Halo players aren't used to. I wouldn't usually run away from a Hunter as much as I would "temporarily retreat" but this game is going to change that. It's going to give you something to fear and that is definitely a new aspect for Halo.

Indeed. The game does feature "stealth" options. Such as your night-vision VISR mode, silenced weapons, Black armor, and the fact that most of the game happens at night. Meaning you could just sneak through the entire thing. Which people may need to do, since ammo is scarce.

Look for the signs, the keepers of the flame. They will lead you to war, and perhaps, to victory.

Actually, it's the other way around. Melee could kill a hunter in Halo: CE. In Halo 2 and 3, melee no longer hurts hunters.

We have the Halo 1 pistol, those Hunters are already dead.

I also wonder if the Hunters will come in two's like they usually do... Wow, if you have to fight two at the same time, running away might be the only option.

Yeah they will. Hunters ALWAYS have and ALWAYS will walk in pairs.

Actually it does, just not much. Also, isn't there a Gold Hunter in ODST? If so, remember those Gold Elites, think that in Hunter form...*shudders*

If melee does indeed hurt, it hurts so low it'd take hours to kill one.
I doubt there's a golden hunter, hunters have no specific rank so they're always the same colour.

I had a very similar thing, only I threw a 14 story building out of a pool and hit a kid on a paper aeroplane.

The Flood is just this awesome :D

MC makes killing a hunter look easy

A golden Hunter? That I can say I've never heard of. Where did you hear that?

  • 06.05.2009 9:37 AM PDT

Two makes there more than speakers.

It says it's best to evoide them.

  • 06.05.2009 9:49 AM PDT

Does anyone even look at these?

Posted by: justafan
i bet they wont be scaled down at all

hunter have always been a pain from halo one until now why would they change?

Um, no. Halo 1. Oh, it's a hunter, pistol shot to the head, dead. Halo 2. Oh, it's a hunter, a few grenades, dead. Halo 3. Oh, it's a hunter, rocket launcher shot, dead. Halo 3 ODST. Oh, it's a hunter. Oh my god it's a hunter run!

This is the first time in a Halo game in which hunters are actually a decent enemy to fight.

I agree! It's going to be a whole new experience and I can see many players just running in there and trying to do what they have always done and getting completely destroyed. It's going to take some strategy this time around and you almost certainly need to be playing co-op to even consider taking them head on. When I play this by myself, I will be avoiding them I think. I'll try to take one down one time and learn my lesson more than likely.

well, i dunno, have two distracting the hunter, and have the other two shooting it.

That'll be hard when Grutns, Brutes, Jackals, Drones and vehicles are all shooting you at the saem time.

Spartans are from Venus and Elites are from Uranus

I hope their a challenge. With 4-player co-op and the new pocket rocket I've been afraid they'd be push overs again.

  • 06.05.2009 10:09 AM PDT

Yeah, I think they'll still be a tiny bit difficult with 4 player co-op but not nearly as bad. I think the real challenge comes when you take on one by yourself.

  • 06.05.2009 10:12 AM PDT

Noobs can't handle AR/Pistol Spawns.

Playing against Hunters in campaign as ODSTs will be epicly fun. They were to weak in the series, wish they were scarier. Now they are playing as an ODST.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

As stated in the Bungie Podcast, Hunters are finally what they are supposed to be like. You will soil yourself and run away. If you and your team do not focus to take them out right away you will be overrun by the other enemes adding up.

Headshot... Sticky sticky... Headshot...Stab...Evade Stab Sticky Stab Stab evade Sticky Stab Headshot Sticky Sticky!

if we all remem the H1 pistol and compare it to new pistol... the hunters r panzies

It just amazes me how something that isn't revolutionary in other games becomes instantly revolutionary in a Halo game. You take something you've done for a long time like fight a Hunter but do it from a different perspective (ODST) and it immediately changes the game. I get more excited every day and I wonder what other encounters are going to be similar to this one.

Tengil, vår befriare!

Wow, people really see the Halo games as a 2nd real world. You have to remember that Bungie is almighty the game isn't gonna become harder then any other Halo game if Bungie doesn't want it to be. It's all about game design, if it happens that Hunters are extremely difficult then Bungie wont throw loads of 'em at you, if they don't want it to be really hard.
