Subject: I thought ODST was going to be cheaper than other games?

Alright.

Campaign: Lets say, $15
Multiplayer: If each map pack has been $10 dollars each, and there have been three of them, that saves you $30. You also get Forge and custom games as well as the original maps. We will put multiplayer at $40
Firefight: A new mode that seems almost like a bridge between campaign and matchmaking and promises lots of fun gaming against enemies. $15

See, right there thats already $70 of value
Bungie originally said it would be less than 60, but then it did not have the multiplayer disc or firefight. I think its safe to say that you get more bang than you give buck, so quit your whinin.

Agreed this is garbage. it should be at the most 40$

That only covers the $40 worth of DLC included in the game.

^That most of us don't need and are being forced to buy again. Don't kid yourself, ODST shouldn't be priced at $60. It's called corporate greed.

Whether or not it's actually worth $60 is a totally different question, and up to the individual.

I'm tired of all the tools on this board that constantly justify themselves getting RIPPED OFF. We shouldn't have to pay $60 for half a game if, because we are loyal Halo and Bungie fans, we have purchased all the map packs prior to the release of ODST.

It isn't right for Bungie and MS (I know MS controls pricing, but Bungie made the game--they are complicit) to take advantage of it's best fans in order to make an extra buck. Horrible way to treat your supporters.

  • 06.05.2009 12:57 PM PDT

How does it save you money? I PAID FOR ALL 3 MAP PACKS which cost about $30 so I pay 60 for ODST and get 3 new maps I didnt have. So wheres the savings? Its a shorter campaign with horde mode and 3 mythic maps. Might save people money who never bought DLC but not others. So think about what your saying before posting.

Shhh, don't tell Sage!

I do beilive bungie WANTED it to be cheaper, but microsoft, being as greedy as they are, Wanted it to be 60. Sad face.

The AR is an awesome weapon, RESPECT IT AS SUCH!!!

its the same price as a normal game, because quite frankly, it is. I believe that somewhere it said that the campaign is about 5 hours. short, but it is meant to be an expansion, right?
then you get ALL...i repeat, ALL of the DLC maps for halo 3 on a new disc which also has all of Halo3 on it, minus the campaign. If that isnt worth $60, then i dont know what is,
also, the controller is an additional $40, i believe that you average controller will cost $50?, so you save money there, AND!!!! it is a special design, so i dont see what you are complaining about!

Sounds like a bunch of Justin Bieber wannabes in here. I bet you all wear skinny jeans too.

But yeah they repriced it to 60$ apparently. Sadface.

What do you want me to do about it?

  • 06.05.2009 2:24 PM PDT

If it did have halo 3 campaign on the disk if it might justify 60 bucks for some people that dont have halo3 anymore etc. but not for the majority.

Perhaps the fact that it's an expansion, and expansions generally run for $40.00 USD?
I wish Bungie would of cut the Halo 3 matchmaking, and just make the Mythic DLC a card to download from the market place. The game would of been $45 that way, and would of made a lot more sense.

"YOUR DESTRUCTION IS THE WILL OF THE GODS, AND WE ARE THEIR INSTRUMENT."

It ships with all 24 H3 maps. It's worth MORE than sixty, easily 70 at the least.

"When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give EL1TE SUPR3MACY lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

Bungie might have made the game, but Microsoft owns all rights to Halo and controls the price of the games as well. You want to complain about money, go argue with them.

Actually to my knowledge there is going to be a 2nd disk included. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't that disk have all the original Halo 3 stuff. I think it would be kind of silly to switch between 3 disks.

It was talked about in the initial stages. But due to Bungies awesomeness, they have managed to take what was initially an "add on" or "expansion" and turn it into a stand alone release. Trust me, your $60 will be well spent.
Why do I even bother coming to these threads? Everyone beats me to the punch!

Proof of a second disc? Never heard that mentioned anywhere.

I guess the edition of Fire-fight bumped up the price.

Bungie has 0 control over it. MS owns Halo. Also, I'd pay more for it if they wanted. I already got the LE.

wtf

Full games should be priced as full games.

Whats up Amoeba? I call Johnson if we play firefight when it comes out. :)

Nah, I'm going to play the Reach beta while its still there. Though I might drop into ODST once in a while (pun intended)

not to burst your guys bubble shield, but the beta comes out AFTER ODST is released and marketed.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

The second disk will contain halo 3's MM.Not the campaign (to my knowledge)

Don't get your hopes up dude: the beta won't come till like early 2010 so you'll still have alot of time to play ODST.

The Halo: Reach Beta comes with H3: ODST.

93% of statistics are lies. Formerly Xfire Grunt. Unfortunately, you can't change the WLID for your BNET account, so I had to create an alternate account. My other WLID was spam city (and it was my e-mail account too).

plus the 24 complete map set, um

Oh yeah and I bet you were one of the kids posting about "cheap asses" not buying the maps...its 3 maps. Nothing more. Unless you don't play Halo 3 online.

It comes with TWO , discs , multi player , and ODST itself , the people who don't have any of the , maps , will not be thinking of it as a rip off , since it has EVERY MAP , in H3 , and the 3 new maps.

Actually , they said that the extras option was were you could get the beta , ONCE IT WAS OPEN TO X-BOX LIVE , so no it doesn't come with it.

Just so you know, the actual Reach Beta doesn't come with ODST, it is released at a time that has not yet been determined.. When it is released, though, you can access it through extras option in the menu.

  • 06.05.2009 3:05 PM PDT

There should be two versions of ODST. One with all the maps, which will be priced at $60, and mainly for people who don't have live/or the DLC. Another should be priced at $40 or so, maybe less, just for the Campaign and Firefight Ect...

Either way I'm gonna be paying what ever they ask for it so whatever =]
