Subject: why are all the characters in ODST in the 'E' rankings...

It doesnt make any sense to me, because as far as i know (without having read any of the halo books) ODST's are the 2nd highest ranking next to a SPARTAN, a special force unit. And if that previous statement is correct, why are all of them 'E' rankings, and none of them have 'O' rankings?

Now unless they have a seperate ranking for each ODST, it would make sense to at least have 1 character be in the Officer rankings...

If anyone knows why this is so, please explain it to me.

E is for Enlisted, which are usually the front lines of battle. O rank, or Officer, do not partake in much military action b/c of their high ranking status. Spartans and ODSTs are dangerous forces to reckon with, but are not ranks themselves. Master Chief, or John-117, is only an E rank as well, the only Spartan to get an officer rank was Kurt, when he was training the Spartan-III's

I understand that E is for enlisted, but usually in military terms, the lower 'O' ranks partake in battles also.

I just finished my military history course this semester, and it just seemed weird to have one of the highest ranking members be in the 'E' track, but the way you put it seems correct, thanks :)

highest ranking member? How so? Just b/c they are very skilled fighters doesnt automatically give them the highest rank, they should though.
And no problem helping, i have spent 8 years in ROTC learning about all that...its really awesome.

I am sure there are ODST units with officer within them, however with the high loss rate against the covenant it would make sense for officers to be less likely on the field of battle.

Also many many special forces are lower ranks as it is.

It's not Hip-Hop, its Electro.... prick.

ODSTs are good but not like ranked up next to spartans. They are a special volunteer force that has normal ranks like marines
