What if, when we use Johnson in Firefight, and a new wave starts that drops Jackals, and we happen to be on a map with a courtyard... You know what I'm thinking?
... we got Jackals in the courtyard..

What about doing it Assassin's Creed style? Run from a large group of ennemies, hide in the pod, and let them forget about you.

Lol, sounds possible.

Think about it in firefight. There's an extremely annoying Wraith you want to take out, but you don't have any heavy weapons. You die, but you come back in a drop pod, target the wraith with the pod, drop, and BOOM, Wraith's dead. Of course you'll be surrounded by Covenant, but, hey, you took out the Wraith. Of course if that's not possible just dropping would still be cool.

Keep it classy Flood.

I'd get killed purposely so I can drop right on top of a Cheiftan's head.

Sock Mokey and Rocketman, I'm sorry your reading level didn't get you past the first sentence.

Just beacuse we don't care dosen't mean you have to cry!

If you don't care, just press the back button on your browser and STFU. Sorry but there's no need to come in flaming a thread for no reason, he had a nice idea going. To the OP, it's a good idea, but I doubt they're going to do it.

No battle is decided in a single moment, although in every battle there arise moments of crisis, on which the result depends. - Carl von Clausewitz

I drink your milkshake!

"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles." - Sun Tzu, the Art of War

I thought the drop pod was only used when they drop onto a planet? Wouldn't it get redundant (not to mention a waste of resources) to use the drop in every mission?

Remember Reach!

I just thought of a good idea for a controllable drop pod... What if you could land the drop pod somewhere differently every time and start the campaign from a different area. Bungie could set it up so that you would still be far enough away from the main objective but still be able to land in different places and start from a different angle... I would like that quite a bit. It's too bad that this game is already finished and it looks like this isn't going to be an option. That's ok though because the game will still be awesome!!

Yeah this is more of a "Hope Bungie has this feature in the final game" thread now.

I really don't care that much honestly. It would be kind of cool at first to be able to spawn and drop where you want to but I would much ratcher prefer not to have to waste 10 seconds figuring out where I should land, then spend time figuring out where all the weapons are and getting to them. It would be too repetitious and mini-game-esque for me to want it. Sure it may not take much time for the drop but to be honest It's those 10 seconds of non-action that break up the streaks of actions which make the game more fun. Sometimes good ideas just don't work out some times.

When you say controllable pod missions I think of you controlling a fast moving rectangular prism falling through space for about 30 seconds so no I can't see that included in a mission.

Really I can see how the drop pod is important to the ODST image and what they can do in combat but I really don't want to have to go through drop pod sequences when I can just spawn and be just as happy.

I'm going to invade your heart like a barn swallow high on milk chocolate and grandma love.

Fairness is only possible within the limited powers of man. Elsewhere, there is only chance.

Thus I refute thee.

I really don't think HEVs are as central to the concept of an ODST as you think.

In a typical mission, I presume each ODST would drop from orbit once, before being collected and transported to wherever they next needed to be. I think it would be quite contrived to try to include more scenes with it in. ODST AI reinforcements might be an idea in the day levels, but I really don't think the player should steer one; are they even steerable, for that matter?

And I think dropping from orbit after every Firefight death would be incredibly boring.

I saw a trailer that had the Rookie looking at an unopened drop pod with the words "Press B to pry open pod" on the screen.

So yeah, we will be using pods for ammo supply and stuff.
