Subject: Do you think Bungie regrets saying this?

I remember in the Halo 3 ODST edition of gameinformer they had an interview with one of the bungie employees, i cant remember who but its not important. Anyway he mentioned that bungie didnt view this game as a full $60 title. Of course now we all know that it is in fact 60 bucks, so really it seems like we're paying full price for a game that even the developer doesnt beleive is worth it.

I'm not really complaining and ill still buy it anyway, but it seems kinda odd that they would've said that without knowing what the actual price would be.

Don't blame Stosh, blame Microsoft.

They don' make up the prices, microsoft does.

It's not Bungie's fault, Microsoft was the one that issued the price change.

yeah THEY didn't view it as a 60$ title. microsoft decides how much it costs.

  • 06.05.2009 5:17 PM PDT

I doubt they actually wanted to make it $60, might have been Microsoft? I don't know.

Yeah Microsoft does the pricing. We should storm the Microsoft offices in Seattle with torches and pitchforks and demand a price drop :D

I just re-read that today, actually. What they said was that they didn't see it as a $60 title because they wanted it to be a good bargain, but that they felt it was WORTH $60

I actually think this game sends off 60$ rather well, what with the New Campaign, and Firefight, three new maps, and the full Halo 3 Multiplayer Mode... and the Halo: Reach beta access.

I would like to invite you to the most active group there is, www.BlackWaterOps.net!. Boasting 4,300 members this is one of the fastest growing groups and proven to be one of the most active groups in HALO. An amazing experience awaits you with weekly game nights, photo contests, and forging contests. This is one decision you won't regret.

The funny thing is most people this much into Halo will not bat an eye at paying the $60 for the title. We will complain and all, but a player that was going to purchase the game at $40 will dish out the extra $20 easily.

It's lame of Microsoft to charge so much for an add-on game, but a smart business decision b/c after all of our grumbling and mumbling we will still pay.

Well, actually, these days, ODST is almost a full game, rather than just a little campaign add on. So I actually think it's almost worth it. Plus all games these days are $60. You gotta live with it in this economy.

yea i know microsoft sets the price, but that doesnt change the fact that you're paying more than its actually worth. at least in bungie's eyes, which really is the best indicator of value considering they made the game.

I wasnt blaming anybosy, just pointing that out

Bungie probably tried talking with Microsoft, but Microsoft apparently is desperate for money.

You forget. It's not 'just three new maps', it's all the map packs released prior too.

well, if anything in a poor economy you should expect lower prices, so the companies can bring in more customers who can buy the product at a more affordable price.

Well, thats kinda what I meant by "full Halo 3 Multiplayer Mode", but I can see how you would think that I forgot about that.

Thanks for choosing to whine over being a productive member of the community and possible element towards advancing Reach.

It's the way the world works. Sure the plan wasn't to charge a full retail price, but the best laid plans have a habit of blowing up in your face.
