Long Live the Ellipsis...
BELIEVE
There is no spoon.
THE CAKE IS A LIE!
September 22nd, a date which I, along with other fans of Bungie, shall await with baited breath. The difference between them and myself being that I both understand that phrase, and use it in conversation...
In all honesty, this is my first post in a thread of this nature (a news reply thread), and I will admit, my decision was based largely on the promise, however intangible and unlikely, of ODST swag. Up until this point in time, I have tried to avoid clogging the already unseemly passages of the internet with further unimportant banalities; case-in-point, this thread itself.
In the time it took me to click "respond" the page count had jumped from 125 to 126. Two full pages of posts in a dozen seconds or so...call it a baker's dozen...
As always, the update has filled me with laughter, hope, curiousity, admiration, happiness, and hunger, but this last is a constant, so please disregard. I truly believe Bungie to be the best company in terms of fan relations.
In truth, most people lack the necessary literary skills for a simple, coherent expression of gratitude, but they are thankful, I, too, am thankful for all of the laughs and good times I have had due to Bungie. 7hank you, for being who you are, for putting up with us (often infuriating, I'm sure) fans, and thank you for making us laugh.
I'm sure you've been told, those who make fun of you are only jealous. As a general rule, I am unsure, but in your case this stands true. All those who complain about minor things, niggling on and on about nothing, these people are jealous of the entity that is Bungie. They wish that they could be a part of it, but they cannot, and thus they try to make you seem less utopian with insults.
I recently was in a local store, shopping for various things, and I passed through the electronics section, curious as to what may have changed since my last visit. Stocked there, upon the shelves, I saw copies of Halo 3, for $40 or so. Only a few months shy of two years after its release, and stores are still able to sell it enough to justify shelf-space.
So believe me, Bungie, when I tell you that you've created something that will endure. Halo may fade, indeed one day all video games may be but a memory, but memories will remain.
Memories begun by you, and built upon by your fans. Hundreds of thousands - if not millions - of people will always remember the fun time that they had playing your games, reading your updates, imagining what is to come. As well as dropping fusion coils and tanks on each other (Come on, we can't all be serious all the time).
Sorry, I realize that this message is long, perhaps overly so, and as such may not be read. People will see it, think "Long post, uh-oh." and move on (if they have any intention of reading something in the first place).
If I were to boil this message down to its essence, the one single sentence that could accurately define and sum up the entire length of my herecontained musings, it would be this:
I appreciate you, Bungie, and 7hank you very much.
