**I don't know if this has been mentioned or not, and if so, I apologize ahead of time**

I recently watched the opening cut scene/the actual drop to Earth from the new ODST game. I noticed while I was watching that their visors can go transparent? Which had me wondering, could the Master Chief's visor do the same? Not that it would matter, because he never takes off his helmet anyway. It just had me wondering, Also the recon helmet is technically considered a spartan helmet isn't it? It also had that transparent function as well. So what do you guys think?

I know what you're talking about. I don't think his visor went transparent, it just slides up and down.

Fyvshawthunda! Rated R DMR

There is no "Spartan helmet" aside from the Mark V and Mark VI Helmets. All the other helmets are pretty much just for show. Like the ODST, Recon, EVA, CQB, and Scout helmets, which I am pretty sure are all ODST helmets, seeing as to how the Spartans need no armor modifications to handle all the tasks each helmet is designed for . The security helmet was a homage to Marathon, and the Hayabusa helmet was a homage to Ryu Hayabusa, of the Ninja Gaiden series of games.

Hm, maybe you're right. It's just hard to tell because it makes a flash before you can actually see the visor, but like I said, you're probably right. It's just hard to tell for me at this point based off that video. I wonder if there is anything in the intel section about it. Hmm..

I'm pretty sure under the little back story thing when you are selecting a helmet, it talks about how they were manufactured for different types of spartans.

Are you proposing the existence of an opaque visor, since you consider transparency a mode? Think about what you're saying...

In the books, Spartans have been known to polarise their visors in bright conditions. They have never needed night vision, because Spartan augments allow them to see in the dark.

It seems that the ODSTs will have night vision mode (among others) on their helmets.

What? No.

I'm just wondering if the helmet has that same function, I wasn't saying they needed night vision or any of that nonsense.

"Bungie controls everything. You have no rights. Play nice."

For the last time its TURRETS not TORRENTS. A TORRENT is either a peer to peer file sharing protocol or a violently fast stream of water. A TURRET is a self-contained weapons platform housing guns and capable of rotation. And TURRENT isn't even a word.

In the books there is a lot of talk about being able to polarize and depolarize the faceplates. ODST and Spartan helmets have the ability to vary how much the visors are polarized (they do it a lot in ghosts of onyx). it can shield from super bright light (and the visor goes dark) or it can become completely transparent. If the Chief wanted to, he could depolarize his visor and we would all be able to see his face. He just never does.

All armors and maps are canon.

Oooh, right.

Well, looks like I need to read the books to catch up on all of this, I've only read The Flood and The Fall of Reach, so yeah, I've heard Ghost of Onyx is a good book, I just have a hard time pushing myself into reading books is my problem.

Yeah, you're right. I watched this video, and at about 2:07, Dutch's visor turns into a blue tint. That's pretty cool.

Yeah, that was the video I watched, and it DOES look pretty cool, watching them fade into the blue tint.

wow... opaque visor. you're completely off. and where did that night vision stuff come from? we all know that the visor is transparent from the INSIDE, he's wondering if there is a mode (not in-game, obviously) where the visor could be transparent from the outside as well so people could see the wearer's face.

why are you looking at this?

yes, every single one.
