HELL NO!
This thread is here to discuss, some of the quirks(wc) of Halo 3 ODST. We can all agree its a great game. The Halo 2** pistol is back, with a scope, and suppressor. The SMG has the same sexy upgrades also. The addition of urban guerrilla warfare, and a choice/switch of DA, and 'choosing your battle's' combat also make it kick awesome. We have the VISR with its 'need to know info' capabilities, and other many more interesting features we will find out closer we get to the game, and finally when we play it for ourselves.
**The M6C/SOCOM's rate of fire is identical to Halo 2's pistol, plus its not doing automatic fire. Granted it probably is auto, but for game purposes we don't get to use that feature. (i think i just contradicted myself lul)
The quirks: We can all agree that ODST's are pretty strong. Stronger than your average soldier. We can also agree that they are not nearly as strong as a Spartan, whether or not he/she is sporting the ever so powerful and majestic MJOLNIR. Which begs to question; why can we as ODST's in this game carry around turrets, when a spartan even has trouble(balance issues set aside). Think about it. We can't dual wield anything, not even pistols, but we can sport a a 100~200 pound .50 cal machine gun turret.
As for health. Their is a video on gametrailers.com that shows the Rookie getting stuck with our friend, the sticky blue ball of fun and joy...and he lives. Now my first thought was WTF he should be dead, we die, and we have freakin MJOLNIR! But then I thought, well since its a press conference, bungie probably increased health or somethin, to alter grenades or somethin.
Jump height also seems pretty consistent with the height of a spartan jump. I figure ODST's carry 50~100 pounds of equipment. So physically that should not be possible. Running speed I'm pretty content. They have strong legs. Jump height depends on strong abdominal muscles, not so much leg muscles.
And i think we all agree we are all sad about the our beloved BR55 not being implemented to the campaign. But think about it. ODST's mostly in this environment are going to concentrate on stealth, and DA/guerrilla fighting stiles, so not trying to be harsh, suck it up.
Now these quirks don't change my opinion of the awesome factor of this game, nor am I complaining/whining about it. Maybe its how I am, but its a valid question. It could just be to implement balance, but balance is needed more for multiplayer, rather than campaign.
Agree/disagree with me I don't care, I just needed to get this out, and just ask a legitimate question, to lead to a legitimate discussion.
P.S., sorry about the wall.
