Since your going to play as an ODST and not a augmented super-soldier Spartan II... what are you going to do for melee, since it would be impractical for a human to run up and try to assassinate a brute using his arm or weapon (unless there are energy swords) Will there be some sort of melee COD type knife, or new CQB system???? Any ideas? Bungie Staff???

Wel i'm sure that Bungie has more than an "idea" of the melee. The game is done so yeah they know...

I was in 5th grade. I popped in the Halo CE disc into the massive, clunky first generation Microsoft Xbox, and wrapped my small hands around the controller that was almost too big for me. Little did I know what I was getting into.

10+ years later, I still look up to my childhood hero, Master Chief, while everyone talks about He Man and Spongebob haha

Well, the game hasn't been fully released yet, but now we're looking at still hitting covies with the butt of your gun.

Yes, unrealistic because the only enemies that SHOULD be hurt by it are grunts, yet it remains, dishing out damage to all.

I will savor the day when you get to jam a combat knife into an alien skull.

Charge...BACKWARDS!

I just watched the videos, its the same as a halo 3 melee, which makes no sense to me because you are not even half as strong as a spartan.

As will I.

I don't like it either, but if you want to play as within the canon abilities of an ODST, the only option available is not to use it, unfortunately.

Definitely not.

There is a melee attack in ODST but it is considerably less powerful than the spartan's strike. I don't know what is happening with assassinations, however, but I would think that they have been disabled, referencing the puny nature of your human form.

Halo 3 Sonnet

We are the Bungie community, and thus, by definition, we are given the right to complain about any work that Bungie produces, mentions, or even thinks about, with no limits set by knowledge, logic, common sense, or understanding of sarcasm!

I'm still hoping that the combat knife gets implemented somehow, but it looks like just the same gun bash so far.

ODST's have a weak melee.

I think it's the same as Halo 3, but even as an ODST the melee will be effective against Grunts and jackels

Very unrealistic indeed.

Here's a nice example;

Go into the field full of cattle with a real rifle, unloaded, go to the bull in the herd (if any of you have ever seen the sheer size of cattle, bulls in particular, irl) and then HIT that Bull in the side full force with your rifle. Chances are the Bull weighs around 500kg and your little 'butt attack' would of just caused it minor discomfort or annoyed it so it flops away or something.

Now for a comparison, a 400lb land Gorilla is only about 181kg.

A 200lb man, about 6.2feet tall is around 90kg, which is why your butt would probably hurt him a whole lot if you got him in the face.

Guess wat. Brutes weigh about 500kg, 1100lb approx.

Melee. Shouldn't. Do. Anything.
