Subject: Fall 2010.... only 1.5 years to make?

Now Bungie has stated that they have already started on this project, but even with that information, I think we can safely assume that they expect to finish this game within a year and a half? If I remember correctly Bungie had 3 years to make Halo 3 and less than 2 years for Halo 3: ODST. Now the newest project has only 1.5 years for production, whats the deal?

As much as I love hearing about all of Bungie's new games, I would actually prefer them to take more time on a game (>2 years) instead of just pushing out another money making dumpster baby that might not live up to expectations.

Although i agree that Bungie now has more resources than it has ever had to design and produce these games, I still feel like they should be focusing on a new franchise that they can dedicate more than 1.5 years to. Is bungie really planning to keep releasing these "half" games. There really isnt anything wrong with that, I expect both Halo 3: ODST and Halo Reach to be great and worth the money, but I feel that Bungie should stop milking all the money they can from the halo franchise and should start something new.

They have probably had teams working on it since halo 3 was released. Remember, bungie is bigger than they were before.

It took 3 years. If I'm not mistaking they got a smaller team together to work on ODST while the rest of them worked on reach.

for odst they didnt hav to make a new engine. and its not that long of a campaign. so its totally possible to make it in 2 years. now, there r also 100+ employees and bungie. Its possible that they hav been working on odst and reach at the same time. so if u do the math. it'll be the same 3 years for Reach's production.

They were probably working on it long before H3 was released. They were also probably working on ODST and Reach simultaneously. That means probably about 3 years in time, roughly.

Really? Could you link to this information? Is this is true Ill be quite happy to know that Halo: Reach will be a full fledged game comparable to Halo 3. Although this is a tad confusing to me since I still vividly remember Bungie stating that Halo 3 was the last in the trilogy following MC and everyone seems to be sure that he is one of the spartans in the solouette

Spinning a plate on a stick is impressive, but if you try to spin three at once then you'll just end up digging porcelain out of your face.

It says it FALLS with an "s". It can be anytime in 2010.

I think It has been in production alot longer then you think. It will be ALOT bigger then ODST. ODST is kind of like a "expansion pack" that was probably being developed on the side by a smaller team, while another has been hard at work on Halo: Reach probly long before ODST was even announced. Games take a while to make.

in any case, Halo:Reach will not be "Half" game as you say. It will be a full blown brand new halo game.

Wow you guys are fast. beat me to the punch :)

Here's a quote, that's all I could find.

"These days we've got a smaller team focused on finishing the ODST campaign and all it entails while the rest of the studio continues making progress on other, larger, secret projects," community director Brian Jarrard told IGN.

first of all it says the beta falls in 2010, their weekly update says that its gonna come out fall 2010 as well but when do game companies ever release on the date estimated 2 years in advance, just look at starcraft 2

This is Bungie.... not Blizzard rofl, two different companies, one of which tends to delay their games by years.

  • 06.05.2009 9:54 PM PDT

I would not be surprised if it got pushed back. Anyone notice ODST is being released around the same time as halo 3 did? it also is the start of fall in september....

It's official! Release date in september 2010!

They can't just say "oh you might see him again" or "this is not a trilogy"

  • 06.05.2009 9:55 PM PDT

Well as you know when they stated this, the forums erupted with discussion over the the theory that Halo 3 was the last halo game to follow MC and that you "finished his fight". Bungie later mentioned and confirmed this in multiple weekly updates that Halo 3 was the last game to follow MC, sure he might make a little appearance, but I doubt they would have him be a main character in a new game.

I have a feeling that the game won't focus solely on the Master Chief, but that's not saying we're not going to see him at all.

Bungie is very truthful company in that they very rarely ever goes back on their word. Its something that give them such a good reputation as game designers. Although Im sure the prospect of making millions of dollars could change their minds.

Microsoft is not Nintendo. Admittedly Master Chief is the closest thing to a mascot that Microsoft has, but he is not their mascot. Microsoft is much more mature in their way of handling business than Nintendo is, by far.

and you may be right. We will know more soon enough.

Who the hell cares if it's not the last game. The more the better. Halo is fun, I don't see why you don't want more. If you want variety, there are plenty of other devs releasing games just for you. Bungie isn't the only company.

Bungie, oh Bungie, oh Bungie,
Know what would really be fun, G?
I don’t wish to nag
But remake Coag,
Or die from a purple sword-lungie.

2010 - 2007 = 3

Where did you learn math?
