I am seeing people surprised that Brutes have shielding at this point. They are no different than from Halo 3, it's just that their shields are now shown more when getting hit as opposed to Halo 3. In Halo 3, they had power armor, and when the shielding on the power armor was taken out, the armor fell off. They had regenerating shields, but unlike the Elites, if you managed to take all of their shields out, it stayed that way.

Halo: CE Anniversary Achievement Idea
C-C-C-CANNON BREAKER!
Let Sgt. Johnson die on Halo.

I don't know why they made the change, but I'm thinking the VISR database registers hits as their shields flaring instead of the power armor flaring like in Halo 3.

You have it exactly right, Mizzou.

To be honest I think the Brute armour should have had some graphic change, cause to be honest Brutes during Halo 2 had much more traditional armour, I think they should have gone with that, made some changes here and their. I think it would have looked awesome.

The Brute armor looks exactly perfect in Halo 3 and Halo Wars. It's the more true look of the Brutes that Bungie wanted for Halo 2.

Either that, or Bungie just thought the shield effects in ODST look cooler.
