Subject: Halo 3: ODST TOO much like other games???

Posted by: Dr Huntin
I will explain my reasoning as follows:

-The guns on the walls as seen in World at War -blam!- Zombies.
-The waves of covenent as seen in World at War -blam!- Zombies and Horde Mode in Gears of War 2.
-The lightup effects on your surroundings as seen in Republic Commando.
-The story mode of finding your fellow teammates also seen in Republic Commando.

Is this true, that Bungie has TAKEN ideas from other games and created a game with all of these concepts?

Bungie, I personally think that you could be more original but I still plan on buying the game and enjoying it to its fullest extent!
Post your opinions please.

Isn't that all that matters?

- Guns have been mounted on walls since before WaW...
- And in Marathon Survival mode.
-That's night vision. Ever heard of it?
- For about the first ten minutes of the game -__-'

Im the best of the best and better than the rest....

In the bungie podcas someone says that there was already a prototype for firefight mode a little while after halo 3 that was before gow3 or cod world at war hope that clears everything up for you idiots. By the way it was the latest podcast.

"Death is an inconvenience now.... We are All Dead Men Walking."
"The Sniper Rifle is a Support weapon, your supposed to sneak around with it. Not stand in the open"
"Armor Lock is boss if you know how to use it!"
"I like the idea of a professional troll, though, it makes me think of a hideous creature under a bridge handing out business cards." -Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw

Kid, ODST is pretty much the Future version of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. there I saved you a bunch of time,

Besides every game is similar in someway. Halo just hasn't done anything new since Halo 1

Then again, why would that matter?

CoD:WaW and GoW2 are both good games. And its not like they have ownership over survival game play.

Okay, it's like some other games.

It's going to be fun and unique, even if the feature are very similar.

Wow, you think THOSE games came up with those ideas? I remember a horde mode thing in a really old star wars game i played. Republic commando didn't invent nightvision. Finding temmates? You think they invented that too? Just because some other game has it doesn't mean Bungie is 'stealing' it, or that those other games came up with it.

OK??? Well, I was just posting MY opinion and we all have our own opinion, I can obviously see that yours explains that you love Bungie and have to defend them at all costs. Don't worry I respect your mission...... :D=|-<

This isn't really an opinion topic, really. It's Bungie did, or didn't steal the ideas of others. There isn't really 2 sides to this.

uh no, aside from the Bubble shields and jammers, what has changed? its the same Blow this up or shot this guy over there. It gets repetative, thats why I play games like RainBow six were tactics are involved, and Armored Core For Answer, nothing ever repeats and each opponent is different.

-there are guns on the wall in the halo 3 campaign in crows nest at the beginning
-World at War and Gears of war did not invent survival modes, you could say the same about pretty much any game that has a survival mode
-do you mean farther away stuff is darker? or the VISR? if its about farther away stuff, thats how things look at night, if its about VISR, its odst technology used to help them with their mission.
-so, what about the story mode where you have to kill an enemy leader? its not like we've seen that anywhere before.

the point is, bungie is more original than you think, just because you can point out 4 things that are similar to other games doesn't mean bungie steals all their ideas

EDIT: now that i think about it, im pissed that bungie tried to make their game better by implementing changes from other games. Why would they ruin the game by making it better, those jerks

Talking about Garmeplay and replay value, (Both of which Suck for halo) not about features..

and how!

God forbid two things have any similarities whatsoever.

-The guns on the walls as seen in World at War -blam!- Zombies.

Projectile weapons have been hung on walls since before wheel lock rifles....

-The waves of covenent as seen in World at War -blam!- Zombies and Horde Mode in Gears of War 2.

Waves of enemies aren't exclusive to two games...this concept is present in any game that has enemies that don't spawn at random.

-The lightup effects on your surroundings as seen in Republic Commando.

OH NOES! THAT WALL IS LIT UP! THEY COPIED REAL LIFE! ZOMGWTFBBQIHATEBUNGIESUESUESUE!!

Is this true, that Bungie has TAKEN ideas from other games and created a game with all of these concepts?

No, they see what works and what is fun, so they use a similar idea. Every good company does this. In Horde, if you have one grub left no more enemies will respawn. In Halo 3: ODST they will keep coming and coming.

They stole call of duty weapons idea though.

Wow.
This has got to be the dumbest and most ignorant post I've ever seen in my life.

Halo? No replay value and bad "Garmeplay"? Are you nuts?

And how is Rainbow Six Vegas not repetitive? Your enemies don't do anything interesting. They are either standing still in a room waiting for you to burst through the door and kill them, charging you, or hiding behind cover until you lob a grenade at them. Not to mention they are all FAR too well equipped for being an insurgency...

  • 06.07.2009 8:44 AM PDT

Snakie Purple.

"Hamdog, Hamdog, Hamdog, Hamdog"-Hamdog.

Twatter

No. We asked for something like Firefight, and Bungie delivered. Besides, I'm more than certain Firefight will be the best out of World at War's Zombies mode, OR gears of war 2's Horde mode.

Bwahahahahahahahaha Anti Halo Crusade! Your Joking xD
Typical response from someone who has a different opinion on a video game. My reasons for disliking Halo, not hating or despising it, are shared among several of my friends and other gamers.

Abots-
Still uses Tactics to get around your enemies, halo its charge in guns blazing (like all shooters including RSV2)
but You failed to mention ACFA, Recommend trying it. Lets see how you do in Ranked Matches on Day 1.

no where did I say anyones a Fanboy.

and chit chatting on the forums I've only been on for about 20 minutes going between other forums and some Parkour Training vids and tutorials.
I'm choosing to end this so we don't fill the thread with nonsense and go pack for a trip.
Peace Happy gaming
Pop Tart

PS I said PM me if you wish to continue to discuss the matter so the community doesn't have to hear us, you didn't

I agree, the game doesnt have ground breaking game play or has made huge changes, but how does that make it suck?

Hate to say it, but calling some one a fanboy a typical response from someone who has an opinion that some one else disagrees with.

Generally when someone doesn't like a game they don't spend hours chit chatting away on forums about it unless they are a troller with nothing to do with their time...

  • 06.07.2009 8:48 AM PDT

How about this, Call of Duty and Gears of War copied Halo`s rebounding health/shields.
And we weren`t complaining.

Your an idiot. Those games didn't invent that -blam!-. Firefight is way better than Horde or -blam!- Zombies from the videos I've seen. They are both repetitive where as Firefight is completely random.
