Umm....how about 60 for the ODST game; 30 for firefight and 30 for the campaign. Then, you have the Halo 3 disc with all of the maps on it. So yes, 60 dollars is a bargain.

30+30+50=60?

I Rock Socks.
Period.

You cant really add the new Mythic Maps as money, since the maps are part of the game. It's like saying your paying for Last Resort in Halo 3. It comes with the game, and it's part of the game. Plus the new Firefight beta is a way to get more money, since their endorsing their products and giving the public a piece of what's coming. So in a sense, maybe it's not worth 60 bucks

ODST is worth 60

New campaign, and firefight. horde mode in a halo game will keep you busy for hours.
Not to mention there's a 21 (or 24) map disk.

That's easily 60 bucks.
Not to godamn mention you've payed so much already for other games and the console.

I mean if you want to talk about a game that's not worth 60 dollars head over to the CoD franchise.

You are forgeting something, mythic is 10 dollars, so in all reality it would be 35 dollars, plus Sgt. Johnson, that would be like 5 dollars so it would have to be like 80 dollars in all, so they are saving you money. SO STFU ALREADY.

Underestimating here on value.
$20-campaign
$10-Firefight
$30-All Maps (I know you are saying they are included in the game. But it's like they did the Map Pack disc for Halo 2 for people who don't have Live. They charged $30 for it, I believe.)
U Can Haz Recon- for some people, Priceless.

So, that's easily $60. Firefight will probably add so much more to the Live experience. I know they said no demo for ODST, but I wish they would throw one level of Firefight on Marketplace, with a limited timer of course, and no Live play.

i thought it was 100.

Back ON topic,

The reach beta comes with it so thats probably 5 bucks. i mean, people bought halo 3 beta for 40 bucks, (crackdown costed that) and didnt even play crackdowwn.

30+30=60

60+50=110

Back to the topic

If you seen some of the stuff thats in the game its seems like a full game instead of an expansion.

I don't see the logic behind the figures you are assigning to each feature of the game.

Whilst I am more than happy to spend $60 on a new co-operative mode, a new campaign, three new multiplayer maps and an invitation to the Reach beta (it'll probably last me longer than most games I buy), I can see why people are upset.

It's because they are buying much of the game they already bought, again. Theatre, Forge, Customs, MM, 21 multiplayer maps: people don't feel like they should be spending $60 on a shorter campaign, one new game mode, and a quarter of the number of maps shipped with Halo 3.

Plus games are priced on the basis of development cost, not on the basis of content, and I think we all know ODST cost a lot less to develop than Halo 3: yet Microsoft know they can charge that much because there is a lot of content. It's just a shame none of it is new.

True. Now that I think about it having the -blam!- beat out of you with a pool ball in a tube sock by your degenerate pimp is the better choice.

.

The MP disc is not 5 dollars, I can tell you that right now. They arent going to staples or radio shack and buying discs for like 20 dollars for 5. They are buying them straight from the manufacturer by the hundreds of thousands.

If you mean the content on the disc, then thats hard to say. But I figure a new map pack is about 10 dollars, right?

Oh dang! That man just ordered breakfast in the middle of my rap song!

I don't see the game as being worth $60. I'm sure it's going to be an amazing, albeit short, experience, but it'll be a rental for me. I don't care about new maps or whatever, I just want to play the campaign expansion.

  • 06.06.2009 9:52 AM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

I think it's 60 dollars because it does incorporate three map packs you would otherwise have to pay for.

  • 06.06.2009 9:53 AM PDT

well either way im buying it. i am actually buying the collectors edition. I think it is worth it. but i can see why others disagree. Its an expansion and its going to be less game play than halo 3 itself so the price on the campaign alone is under $20 (depends how long it is if its one mission or two mission shorter i can see 30 but thats why it should be 20. firefight is going to be good so that 10 dollars. since its the same matchmaking and game play for multilayer thats no addition cost. Sure reach beta is coming in and you7 think its 5 dollars. its not since all the other betas are worth just time of downloading it. the maps are where it gets me mad. for the people who buy all the maps already. they spent 30 dollars on them and now they have to spend another 30 dollars is ridiculous. for people who bought the maps all of them should have to only play 30 dollars. so for the people who did not buy any maps at all it should be 60 dollars but for the people who bought all of them. it should only cost 30 dolllars since we already have the 30 dollars of content already. i am still going to buy it but there is my reason i disagrree on the price.

the campaign is estimated 3-4 hours, which sorta sucks, but still, firefights there.

the podcast said that the campaign is alot longer then originally planned now, and that there are much more than 4 of the 'clues'

It actually does factor into it, in a manner of speaking.

Making levels, maps, missions; whatever you want to call them; costs time and money. You have to pay for the salaries, utilities, actual manufacture, etc. Indirectly, you're paying for all that nice marketing as well.

While you're not paying specifically for Last Resort, perhaps, it does factor into the cost of actual production. Then again, you're also buying one damn fine game from the boys at Bungie. Instead of looking directly at what's on the disc, look at the experience you'll likely obtain from the game, and then decide if it's worth part of your paycheck/allowance.
