Okay, let's start with what we know. Reach was a UNSC Outpost, a military planet through and through. Everyone there was UNSC. This was where Spartan 117 - John was brought after being "kidnapped" from his parents and replaced with a clone, who would soon after die from "natural causes." He was trained by Franklin Mendez, whom I very much look forward to meeting in-game, and by a special Smart AI named "Deja." This is where the original 150 Spartan-II's were trained. However, Mendez leaves to begin training of the Spartan-III's with Kurt, a Spartan-II on the secret UNSC planet of Onyx.

Keeping all of this in mind, there are a whole slieu of new armors available to players that fit into the timeline. ONI is present and constantly updating armors, making them more advanced. Dr. Halsey has been working with AI and also doing other secretive type UNSC stuff. Not to mention, every class of every UNSC soldier could be found on Reach. Every weapon of any design, including captured Covenant tech, was there. We all know every mode of transport was there, and plentiful. Hell, if I remember correctly, one of the UNSC personnel drove a modified Warthog with an Archer missile rack mounted on top.

So, let's think about that. In Halo 3 we had descriptions on all of the armors proclaiming a special need and how they fill the niche. Hayabusa was made parallel to the MJOLNIR program, fixing the self-powered armor problem. EOD was created so that explosions would channel around the user's head, decreasing likelihood of decapitation or injury. It is now used for handling of explosive ordnance. CQB was designed for close combat and flexibility. EVA for survival in zero-gee environments (the suit even has built-in thrusters.)

Think about it... something for everyone's playstyle. A mix and match plethora of armor permutations. Basing the swappable parts on Halo 3's armor perm system, one could wear an EVA chest piece, a CQB helmet, and EOD shoulders to become a soldier that is equipped to handle zero-gee firefights, increased look sensitivity, and has a small resistance to explosive ordnance. Neat, eh?

Although, seeing how well the armor perm system went over in Halo 3, I would expect to see many more unlockables serving many more functions. Not to mention, a few more "Recon-esque" suits held back for very special occasions/circumstances.

Based on the graphic above, I see at least one female, three typical soldiers, and a large Spartan-esque character. Wouldn't it be pretty neat if you started your career as a regular enlisted marine? Then throughout your multiplayer campaign you worked your way up into better gear, until you finally land that powered armor, becoming a single unstoppable force to be reckoned with. I don't know about you, but I have chills just thinking about the possibilities.

Does anyone else have any armor ideas? I know CQB was already mentioned. Wearing the complete suit would give you a serious advantage in melee combat. Wearing parts would only give you a partial upper-hand. I'm interested to hear people's ideas!

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.” – Psalms 46:1-3

Go learn more about the halo universe then make theories as this is in no way possible as Spartans are trained from birth and are genetically and physically augmented.

It is you, sir, who needs an education in the Halo universe.

"Halo: The Fall of Reach Plot
The novel opens with the civilian Dr. Catherine Halsey and Lieutenant Jacob Keyes traveling to meet John, a six-year-old boy. Dr. Halsey reveals to Keyes that John is one of 150 children who possess rare genetic markers making them suitable for conscription into the SPARTAN-II program, a secret experiment with the aim of creating super soldiers for the UNSC to quell rebellions.[6] Seventy-five of the children are kidnapped by operatives of the Office of Naval Intelligence and replaced by clones engineered to die of natural causes shortly after. From this point on, the recruits are known only by their first name and a three digit number."

Maybe you can explain to me exactly how an infant is trained to fire an Assault Rifle?

Furry Forever óÓÒò

Supreme mastery therefore, is not to be victorious in all your battles; supreme excellence is to be victorious without fighting.

Most interesting. I would like to be able to use armor varients in campaign. I'd also like to see some more new armor permutations.

Awfully modest of you, perhaps it is because you lack a life?

Apparently, proper spelling is something not taught in elementary schools these days.

In regards to the last poster(s), I am looking forward to the new armors available and whether or not they will impact the game the way that classes do. Maybe as your rank increases, so does your access to classified armors? Anyway, I wonder how far the customization will go. Will it be the Helmet/Chest/Shoulders again or can you customize the Legs/Arms/Gauntlets/Boots? Why not go so far as to be able to customize some of the internals too such as HUD and radar? When the backdrop is Reach, almost anything is possible in concerns to armors and such, I wonder if you get your own AI in multiplayer?

I'm sure that this game will be really impressive, Bungie really has a lot to work on. The trailer was amazing.

As far as armour is concerned; I wonder if it impacts on the specialty in the field of the Spartan. Like a CQB variant which has been modified to support it.

Yeah, exactly. A CQB armor that actually increases your melee attack and/or speed. Granted, with the different parts of armor you need to obtain, it would remain pretty balanced. While you lack in one category, you gain in another.

i hope that Bungie manages to come up with some really awsome new armour or sort of pre armours to some the ones we've seen through the halo trilogy.

Well, on Reach, there were Mech Suits used for lifting heavy loads. The Marines training against the Spartans had to wear them, even though the Spartans had no armor whatsoever. With their augmentations, they could crush a Marine's skull with their bare hands. It evened the fight a little bit. In the training sessions, these mechs were outfitted with chainguns to provide a greater challenge to the Spartans. Which brings up the question, this is for anyone who read the book, where did they get the black clothes and rope?

Back to the discussion though, I would imagine Reach has a stockpile of antiquated armor as well as newer prototypes. It would just make sense. What if the Mark IV is the pinnacle of armor tech in the new multiplayer?

I saw someone else post this, but I was thinking it as well... the guy on the far left does look like he is in the Brotherhood of Steel Power Armor.
