brutes would make it non canon, so unless stosh comes in, we're fighting elites

Elites should be the main bad guy!

Is it even a question?

Not only was the fleet that attacked Reach under Elite control, therefore being made up of Elites, Brutes just suck in comparison to Elites. I'll take a Gold Zealot with a sword or PR over a slow and dumb Cheiftain any day.

I'll hold the rope..... and the camera. 'Cause I'm a multitasker like that.

As agile as a cougar on a young man.

Ok, if you say so boss!

Wildcard Machinima!

PAUL!, Paul from storage can own all elites and brutes!

Halo 2 is the best game EVER made.

cant be both because brutes were not in the covenant at this time

this is at the time of the changing of the guard! Brutes were in the Covenant before the first battle of Harvest.

I would DEFINITELY prefer Elites
and on the positive note, we may not see the brutes at all, for (good) reasons already pointed out,
and on a slightly less positive note, if they are in the game, they will almost certainly be cannon fodder, a tougher, if not slightly less intelligent, grunt, and far less common. Elites at this time are still at the top of the Covenant ladder(after prophets), and would for this mission be used as the real fighters, with just about everything else nothing short of fodder

and no, the Changing of the Guard occurs during the Covenant Civil War, when the Elites secede from the Covenant, hence the change. THAT, as we all know, occurs more or less towards the end of the Ninth Age of Reclamation, or about half way between Halo 2, long after the attack on Reach, which was one of the first agressions in the Human Covenant war
Basically, their will be very few brutes indeed, as anything else but a glorified grunt

What a waste....

No, they were there, just not much of a big position. If I remember, Brutes were at Harvest, and Reach was in 2552, the year Brutes were introduced on High Charity.

um... H2 H1 and H3 are all in 2552 and 2553, and the battle of reach was right before H1; 2552.

Elites are so less intimidating, because you can't see their face.

i would like to see mainly the elites but if there was a job the elites seemed too "messy" (low profile) the brutes could come in for one mission. But in halo 2 the brutes where jelious of the elites as the profit's escort. So definately elites, they have a more sense of honor.

Step 7 is on it's way. Prepare the sling-shot.

All hail for the seventh number.

I would like to see the brutes being the leaders but the elites are more honeralbe.

the only brutes i like are these captain, captain major, captain ultra, war chieftain, and the chieftain... also the stalkers, and jet pack brutes.
they are the only good brutes, to bad you barely face them. if the captain wielded spikers, or brute plasma rifles, the captain major wielded carbines, the captain ultra wielded brute shots or maulers, and the two chieftains stayed the same, then they would be much more worthy opponents

the brute minors suck, i have never been killed by one, i either kill myself (lol) or get killed by a mojor or a chieftain. i should play with the thunderstorm skull to get rid of sucky brute minors.

Yes elites are the -blam!-. I hope there is absolutely NO BRUTES in this game, in my opinion it made Halo a tad worse.

I wasn't a big fan of the brutes either. I would rather fight the elites, they are just a better opponent if you ask me.

  • 06.24.2009 5:35 AM PDT

i wana fight the elites like in halo 1.i liked beating their dead bodies so ther wher blue blood pools. hehe nice pay back for pillar of automn .

  • 06.24.2009 10:59 PM PDT

the idea of only elites sounds better too. a formal looking army except for the grunts , rather than those rag-tag brutes. will the arbiter be at reach?

Brutes never participated in the invasion of Reach, that is a wellknown fact. The Spartan II's never encountered any Brutes until after the battle of Reach ended, and that was with, Operation: FIRST STRIKE.

Even then, John and the team only encountered a few.

The majority of the opponents were elites/jackals/grunts.

Space, zoom, fade!

Elites all the way!.

Elites were formidable opponents.
I was alway fearful of elites when playing Halo: CE and Halo 2.
The brutes were bullet sponges in Halo 2 and push overs in halo 3.

Brutes just don't seem to have the same presence about them, as some one in another forum said "the elites always feel very alien" i think this is the reason they were so scary.
Brutes just look like giant gorillas, they just don't seem to fit in next to the other members of the covenant.

  • 06.24.2009 11:46 PM PDT

I would like to have both because that would be awesome.

  • 06.25.2009 2:02 AM PDT

elities!
