This is a serious question that's been bugging me for a while. I mean, there's nothing wrong with Halo fans getting exciting over a new game coming out in the slightest. However, the only info we really have on the project at all is a minor teaser trailer with little to no substantial fact or content.

Therefore, every thread and post in this forum has been speculation. Hell, there's already REPEAT THREADS. How? How does this happen?

Should this forum have been created a little bit later, when more info had been released to the general public?

You know, I think you're right. Finally, someone who makes sense in these forums!

Yea I can see where your coming from, but i think bungie wants to see what we think. It is weird that the reach forum and odst forum come out at the same time, even though they are a year apart. Maybe they want to build up a bunch of hype,

What's wrong with a little bit of speculation and theorisation? It's not all reposts of 'there's an elite in the silhouette!' and theories on 'Bruce'. A lot of good, intelligent posts have already and will come out of this forum. It's even useful to Bungie in the sense that users can post what they'd like to be put into the multiplayer and gameplay of Reach.

Honestly, what bad has come out of this forum? If it wasn't here, the Halo 3 forum would be flooding with threads about the trailer. This forum already has 70 pages, and it's only been a few days since its announcement. I can only imagine what the Halo 3 Forum would be like with threads about Reach and ODST. It's better this way.

He didn't say anything about the ODST forum, just the Reach forum. All this speculation is just pointless. Everyone should just wait until Bungie releases some real info on the game.

Halo 3 is good.

Well with a forum, more people that talk about it, and the speculation increases.

Popularity is spread this way, making Halo: Reach to be a spectacular launch.

Also if people would start flooding the "Halo 3 forum" with Halo: Reach topics.

Bungie has made the right decision.

Yes and no - i mean we need a place to discuss our hopes, not only speculations for Halo. While right now it's mostly speculation, bungie does in fact look at this forum from time to time (if you look at the update). It's a place to let bungie know what we think and for them to let us know what they think.

We have enough info to talk about it, also where would everyone else be talking about this on Bungie.net?

Don't get me wrong, there isn't any wrong with a "little bit" of speculation. It can lead to the aforementioned good ideas and such that you reference in your post. I understand this. However, there is a large problem with 100% speculation, in the fact that since there is little fact to ground said speculation in the first place that every thread is either:

A. Want/wish thread. Pretty much the highest quality stuff in these.
B. Ridiculous projection upon what will be in the game due to some minute detail in the trailer that has no importance. Thread will call said observation proof.
C. Hey guys, Halo: Reach is actually going to be a (insert genre other than FPS here)
D. Will there be (enemy, equipment, playable character)

and that's pretty much it. You can only go so far into these topics, and it's just going to turn into a rehashed, repeat nightmare forum that will become the new target of Floodian indignation. Hopefully Bungie lets more info out of the bag, or this forum will begin to suck.

I agree that those threads are becoming too common in here, but having them here is better than anywhere else. It's best to keep them away from the other forums, so this place does have some purpose.

No. All the speculation contributes to hype which contributes to game sales which contribute to bungies wealthyness. It is never too early :p

This forum has more to go on than a minute trailer. We have the entire book "The Fall of Reach to make inferences on.There are a lot of fans of the book Fall of Reach that have wanted something like this for a long time.Besides, this is not unhealthy speculation,it is mererly talk about what little info there is and what people hope the game will incorporate. But actually,it essentially boils down to a plethora of threads in which people are chatting about the book "Fall of Reach".I think that's great! If you ask me,the book has not recieved the fame it deserves and people can draw so many game ideas from a piece of literature, which leaves the reader to imagine the locales and combat sequences,as well as everything else. The announcement of this game, and the creation of said forum provides a medium, the likes of which allows readers to share their take on the story,as well as how they envision it.It also provides an incentive for those who have not read the book to go out and do so.Getting someone interested in reading is one of the most constructive things a person can do.In fact,I am quite glad that this forum was made so early, because if it were made later, more game content may have been released, which (in some cases) discourages more literature based game projection. Finally, the incentive presented by this forum to read the book causes the reader (after finishing) to be anxious for the release of the game even moreso,so it hypes up the game. Then, these people post, more people see it,and the cycle continues! Its great! So,early creation of this forum a bad thing? I think not. pz

Well I'm sure Bungie didn't want the Halo 3 forums being flooded with excitement over a different game....

Let all the meaningless speculation over something we know nothing about go here, rather than some other forum.

Spinning a plate on a stick is impressive, but if you try to spin three at once then you'll just end up digging porcelain out of your face.

It wasn't created soon enough.
