Subject: Biggest ODST turn off? Not a Super Soldier...

Its understandable that many people love the Halo games because you are a superior soldier who can kill mass amounts of enemy's without looking worse for the wear. Not so much when your a human.

When your a Spartan you can jump from 50 feet in the air, land in a group of enemy's, stick the closest brute, pop a few grunts in the head, melee the next brute and BR him in the head, AR the next brutes armor off and melee him for the kill. This is all before to hunters show up at which time u crouch jump over the first, AR him to death right under his armor pick up the rockets and blast the second hunter.

Imagine all that as an ODST. Dont get me wrong they are still the best of the best...for a human any way. Now back to the situation.

That 50 foot drop alone would kill you. so you would have to walk around and lose the element of surprise...great. Then after sticking the brute and poping the grunts in the head u try to melee off the armor of the brute. uh oh he doesnt lose his armor. why you ask? because ur not a super strong spartan. so even if u manage to kill this group of foes you health will be critical and your screen will be totally red from the human blood seem to have. so going up against a pair of hunters is not going to be fun. lets say u had full health when the hunters arive. you run up for the crouch jump but end up T Baging him in the face when u realize "oh wait i cant jump that high im no spartan".

Bottom line is that halo wont be the same when you not a spartan and i really hope that they will make a playable version of firefirght for the spartan lovers. of course i will be buying ODST, my being a halo addict/lover/marry me cortana but we will have to see if these "Best of the Best" can come close to the skills of Master Chief.

Let me know what you guys think of the up coming ODST.

I am Katsu Kage, an assassin trained in the art of stealth. I was on a recon mission when I discovered a blue box hidden among some rubble. Once I entered the blue box it had taken me to a land far away. It was strange and fantastic! There I met PatikaVoom, the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen. She showed me this land, then returned with me to the blue box. She called it a TARDIS and seemed to know how to work it. We left together and have been on many adventures, with many more to come!

It adds challenge.

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

Honestly, from what I've seen, ODST's aren't as weak as most people are speculating.

You can still dive into action pretty well, even if you don't have Mark VI Mjolnir Armour.

Fire fight is supposed to induce the act of team work,

Wheres the need for that if you can just run around on your own smashing faces in?

It wont be "Oh -blam!- this wave could kill us" its gonna be "I Bet you i can kill all 5 of these chieftains without breaking a sweat" If they make a spartan version of firefight

"The land may melt, the seas may swell, the sky will fall... but They will come." - Malzahar

It give the game a challenge and more strategy of how to eliminate your enemy, rather than going in gun blazing as you mentioned. You need to execute your plan wisely.

and how!

Dear Lord...

THE ENTIRE POINT OF HALO 3: ODST IS TO NOT BE A GENETICALLY ENHANCED SUPER SOLDIER WITH POWERED ARMOR!

We understand you like being a Spartan and enjoy being able to leap 8 feet into the air over a tank with a .50 in each hand shrugging off 7.62 AP like so many flies, we all do. Try changing up your tactics once in a while, that is one of the main aspects of the game.

Did you just completely miss the whole point of Halo 3: ODST?

yeah that helps thanks.

Halo 3: ODST is supposed to be a challenge. being a super soldier made halo 3 easy. This game will make you rethink your tactics.

Sweet Home Alabama
Roll Tide
We Are Penn State!

Halo Reach will have spartans so you'll get your spartan fill in 2010 or simply play halo 3.

Honestly, the second scenario sounds more interesting. Almost dying gives me an adrenaline rush. Jumping off a skyscraper to kill nameless thugs (essentially scenario 1) doesn't really do it for me anymore.

  • 06.06.2009 8:26 PM PDT

Does anyone even read these?

Of course it wont be the same, it's a different style of gameplay. Not too much but different enough. Halo 3: ODST is different to Halo 3 in this manner, it's a good thing as we need a bit of a change.

I would love the option to play firefight as my matchmaking character, just for more replayability.

Four shots, four kills, reload, repeat. This is the work of a sniper.

Pretty sure you could not jump 50 feet high as MC, but correct me if I am wrong.
I'm glad they added the change-up for the expansion, it'll be a challenge.

I am a Halo 3 Failure.

Personally, I will like Halo 3: ODST's campaign because of the reasons you listed, it just isn't fun when ever kill is handed to you. It is fun when you bring strategy involved, but most people, like you, don't like to strategize and just want to "Run and Gun", which is why most of the Halo players I meet, and you (assumption), don't like Halo Wars.

  • 06.06.2009 8:33 PM PDT

I understand that Halo ODST is supposed to be a new feel to the game but i play Halo for a reason. I have tried other games such as COD but it had one major fault. it was to easy to die. i love the way a spartan can take on damage from someone ARing him from the back, duck into camp froman, turn around, throw a grenade off the door post, and pop that sucker in the head and wait for his shields to recharge. in COD as a human its alot easier to die. i havnt played ODST yet so i dont know how the health thing works or if it even recharges but not being a Spartan seems like it will take away from the halo element that i and other people love.

  • 06.06.2009 8:36 PM PDT

Then don't play ODST, it's obviously not for you.

  • 06.06.2009 8:37 PM PDT

I am a Halo 3 Failure.

Then don't play ODST, play Halo 3, simple as that. Plus your given a new disk with all the maps on it, so now you have more space in your hard drive.

Stop whining.

Haha purposly i never said whether i would like halo 3 ODST or not. but here it is. i love the fact that we can finaly use stradegy and play in an open map and not just run and gun. I enjoy halo most when i can execute a plan with my team and see what works and what doesnt.

and for the record i love HW

I am a Halo 3 Failure.

Well what you described as "good Halo gameplay" is running and gunning, so make up your mind.
