Sorry if this was already asked but I didn't check......

Is the only way you can play the new maps that come with ODST by using the second disc? Or do you download the maps and then you can play them with just the regular Halo 3 disc? I know that the second disc is the complete Halo 3 multiplayer, so does that rule the original Halo 3 disc obsolete unless you want to play campaign? A little help would be nice because this has been buggin me for some reason.

I read the update and I was pretty sure that it didn't say anything about this besides that they were on the disc.

You can either use your old Halo 3 disc or the second Halo 3: ODST disc. The Halo 3: ODST second disc has all maps (including 3 new ones) and Halo 3 matchmaking, I'm not sure if they have forge or theater but its a good possibility that they are on there also.
Edit: You have to use your Halo 3: ODST scond disc to play the three new ones.

Who knows... They might have the newer maps on the Marketplace sometime after ODST launches.

: )

^^^ They are not stored on a disk.

So once you put in the second disc of ODST, can you play the three new maps with the old Halo 3 disc in?

I don't think so; but you may be able to download them off the marketplace if they become available on it (as suggested above).

You can't have both discs in simultaneously. The second disc in the ODST pack has all 24 multiplayer maps on it and that's where they stay. You can't download them to the HDD. Because of that, if you were put your regular Halo 3 disc in, you would only get the maps that are on the disc, as well as the DLC maps on the disk.

The secondary Disc for ODST has standard halo 3 multiplayer and ALL of the maps including the three new ones, you can play matchmaking with regular halo 3 players but they will not have the 3 new maps unless they get ODST themselves

-.- I know that you can't have two discs in at once. Tthe rest of what you said answered my question though....

The disc does, but not the disk.

Check Out my FileShare.
I was once on Bungie Faves. (Feb.7-15)
I'd like to know why I can't see the signatures of others of myself on the forum. I have made favs once, 7777 campaign kills, and I helped bring modders down when they were at their strongest

Yes it should work. This is based off what I know. Godamn kids and there questions who are impatient and can't read the updates.

Tank beats everything!

It happens... I dont see why they dont just give you a code for the three new maps and call it good.

  • 06.17.2009 9:18 AM PDT

to expand on the subject, if i may

if i delete all the current DLC (Heroic, Legendary, Mythic) from my 360's hardrive, in theory i should be able to enjoy the full matchmaking experience with my ODST disc, thus clearing out some sapce in my harddrive

is my line of thinking correct?
