Subject: Reach IS in The Legendary Ending

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

I'm gonna agree with IIGhoulishtieII. Reach was destroyed (glassed) in "Fall of Reach." Halo: Reach is probably a game version of that story, though one that focuses not on John, but other Spartans, or even other parts of the UNSC military. Who knows.

But, Reach is not a sequel. Look at the trailer again.
"From the Beginning, You know the End." (or something similar).

Viva La Revolution!
Social Infection ftw

Time travel is a lame idea.

Besides the majority of the bungie.net community HATES the idea of MC going back in time.

If the community hates it, Bungie won't put it.

If Bungie puts Time travel, the books would not make sense at all.

I reckon the planet on the Legendary ending is Onyx, not Reach, for that would make more sense.

There are 15 more of these SAME types of theories made by people that have never read the books.

The Time-travel theory is completly stupid. Not only does bungie not like the idea, but it would kill off the story of halos 1, 2, and 3, AND it would be one of the worst plot twists in game history.

thankyou! im sick of all these time travel theories

Even if somehow Bungie could prove that time travel was possible, it would still be the worst story line they could come up with - similar to a "and it was just a dream" or something like that.

You want Proof? You can't handle he truth

In Halo: Reach, the blockbuster prequel to the Halo trilogy, experience the events that transpired on the planet Reach. Created by acclaimed developer Bungie, Halo: Reach will be available in the fall of 2010 exclusively on Xbox 360. As a bonus for Halo fans, Halo 3: ODST will be the key to entry for the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta coming to Xbox LIVE.

So, can we stop with all the time travel, ZOMG HALO 3 LEGENDARY ENDING! speculation?

Sorry, but the fact that a site, even if it is Xbox.com or Bungie.net, says it is a prequel does NOT mean it actually is. Bungie is secretive with the story to their games, so if anything Xbox.com saying that it is a prequel adds more speculation to it not being one.

The only way we will really know is if Bungie shows us the games campaign and something is in it that proves it is a prequel and not a sequel, or when we actually get the game.

Are you serious? I'm familiar with Bungie's ways, thank you very much. But, when its posted on a website like Xbox.com and Bungie.net, especially these 2 websites, its meant for people to see and get the idea and context of the game.

When its on Xbox.com, its true.

Its spelled out for you. PREQUEL. TO. THE. HALO. TRILOGY.

Does that mean it's NOT going to be developed by Bungie? Does that mean it's NOT called Halo : Reach? Does that mean it's NOT coming exclusively to xbox 360 in 2010? Does that mean ODST is NOT going to have a Halo : Reach Beta on it?

why are people saying time travel is impossible and -blam!- and blah blah rage rage. For one, Halo = fiction.
2. that crystal they found in first strike DID bend time/space, it did a hell of a lot of trippy stuff.

now in a universe where you can travel vast distances through "slip space" please tell me why time travel cannot be possible?

no, i am not arguing that ending cinematic planet = reach. im just suggesting noobs to keep an open mind, and wait for bungee to give us more info,

right now theyre sitting back, chilling and just leaving us fans to go absolutely speculation nutso. and i bet even theyre quite confused with some of the things people are coming up with.

unfortunately 80% of aaaall the post in these topics are all regurgitated noob rage, thats already been stated and theyre just too full of rage to read the pages between 1 & last which has already had people stating what they just did.

so, would people mind atleast getting some evidence to suppose theories? then thatd be sweet. now im gonna bail from all these threads for about a week or two till the flood and flames subsides. :P

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Reach's sun is red where as the Legendary Planet's is an artificial blue. There, that's a large hole in your knowledge!

Can't you just accept that this game will take place during the Battle of Reach?

It isn't Onyx either, remeber? It was destroyed by 2 FENRIS warheads revealing it is actually trillions of Sentinels. They left behind the miniscule Micro-Dyson Sphere housing Dr. Halsey, Mendez and the Spartans.
Not Onyx.

My take is that the Legendary Planet is the Precursor's Rainbow World hinted at in the Terminals where the Didact wished to "follow in Their footsteps".

The Forerunner Slipspace Crystal only accelerates the ship through Slipspace faster. Not bend time and space.
Bungie has consistently said they'd never sink to time-travel, fiction or not.
Time-travel is completely different to travelling through Slipspace, your destination lies in the present where as in time-travel you'd be going backwards.
Very different.

Also the caption From the Beginning...You knew the end... is obviously referring to the Fall of Reach.

But you see, the Time Space crap that happened in First Strike wasn't as big of a matter as what people think is happening here.

That's the main reason why people are disputing the fact.

I won't mind Time travel if done right but there is already a canon established for these events and we have been told straight up that its a prequel. The fact that many people have already presented the evidence and yet people want to argue over that pisses me off.

I'm the stupid one yet you are the one that failed to see the what I was saying. See, I was talking about the fact that it says it is a prequel, which CAN be false/lied about. For example, a lot of developers when they are making a multiplayer game tell people what they are planning for the max players per game to be. Even if it is posted on Xbox.com saying that it is 2-18 players on Xbox live and system link, does not mean that it is going to be that when the game comes out.

So please next time you are going to insult someone about their intellect please make sure you are actually proving that they made a stupid post.

By the way, don't try to post something like "The story does not change once the game is actually in development." or anything similar because I have already taken Game Design courses and I can tell you that the story most certainly can change during development.

Now to this statement above you could argue that they have been working on it in secret for awhile and are near completion of the campaign. However I could simply argue back asking how you know they aren't working on Multiplayer first.

http://www.phoinixugc.com

The AR is an awesome weapon, RESPECT IT AS SUCH!!!

why can people still not accept that MC is thousands of light years from the galaxy rim....let alone the section of it where humans inhabit (Earth, Reach, Harvest etc..)
The portal collapses before the whole of The ship can get through, so it gets cut in half, with one half going through the portal, and the other half being left behind.

  • 06.07.2009 3:36 AM PDT

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

It wasn't left behind, if it was then John & Cortana would have died, the rear section of the Dawn was dumped at either a random location; Precursor Rainbow World or a fail-safe location.

Not Onyx.

I'd just like to point out two things:

1) The Dyson Sphere is inside slipspace. Would not be visible or accessible from standard space. The back half of Forward Unto Dawn (where Chief and Cortana are) did not manage to enter slipspace, so the planet in view cannot be the Dyson Sphere.

2) The Dyson Sphere is by no means minuscule. The Halo rings are about 10,000 miles across. This Dyson Sphere has an internal radius of 1 AU (Astronomical Unit. 1 AU is equal to the average distance of the Earth from the Sun, or, 93,000,000 miles), as stated by Halsey. To put that in perspective, the surface area of the inside of the Dyson Sphere they're on is equal to a hair under 552 MILLION Earths. If the Sphere had the same population as Earth only 552 million fold, the Sphere could have held a population of about 36 quintillion people. That's a 36 followed by 18 zeros. Makes you wonder about the Forerunner and THEIR predecessors.

please, use the search function. I have seen like 10 of these kinds of threads talking about "OMG! The planet in the Reach Trailer looks exactly the same as the one in the Halo 3 Legendary ending! They must be the same then!" We wont know what the planet in the Legendary ending is, and we may never know....

I can see how people think they look the same. They are both planets and have land. They must be the same...
