Subject: Dare Aran

I think it's cool to have a mysterious, armor clad blond in the halo universe. And it seems to be that Dare had to have at least drawn SOME inspiration from Nintendo's own mysterious, armor clad blond, Samus Aran.

Am I just crazy or does anyone else see the similarities? Do you think she'll be a similar character? Do you think she was inspired by Ms. Aran? And most importantly... who do you think would win in a mud wrestling contest? :D

Excuse me?

Should I dumb down my writing? Add in some numbers to replace letters perhaps? All caps maybe?

Or is it the content? Pointing out obvious and transparent characterizations doesn't require any smarts.

You are acting all high and mighty strolling to different threads going "DARE IS STEREOTYPEDAND CLICHE BUNGIE IS A SELL OUT! MRAAAHAHAHAAAAHAAAHA!!!!!!!11!!" All you are doing is trolling theads about other topics. Keep it in your own.

have you ever at all thought that maybe- just maybe, people want to find out more on Dare because she is the character we know the least about? As for he being female, wtf does that have to do with it? if it was a male character who was kept classified, you wouldn't give a damn.

Interesting...you equate two threads to trolling even though my response in this thread is in perfect context to the OP. I also never stated that Bungie is a 'sell out'. On the contrary, they have created a character that directly appeals to the game's audience...Female+Recon+Classified=OMGZ!.

High and mighty? Please, I am an adult and therefore see no use in serving an internet ego. Also, considering my point was transparent and obvious and clearly thought of by other people there would be no reason behing acting 'high and mighty' when bringing up a resolution that is so simple.

Look at the forum...a ton of Dare threads, greatly out numbering threads dedicated to the title character of the Rookie and virtually none dedicated to the rest of the team.

I love how people like you try to act as if you're more intelligent than everyone else. The post was a joke, if you want, take your little thesaurus (because I know that many of these words are outside of your vocabulary) and go to school where you can use those special little words in a proper environment.
By the way, I believe one of the forum rules is "don't be a jerk."
You sir, are a jerk.

I am seriously confused...

All I did was give my answer to the OPs question and for that I was insulted, specifically called a troll because I voiced my opinion in only two threads that were in proper context. It is not like I brought it up in many threads that were about something else. Then I am described as acting all 'high and mighty' for giving a simple opinion.

If anybody is being a 'jerk' then it surely isn't me...I am being attacked based on my opinion and my vernacular.

Would we all be more comfortable if I typed in caps and replace letters with numbers?

And was never answered to, which is why it was repeated.

I never fully understood the need for hostilities on the internet, or why Bnet in particular seems so overly prone to it.

But in comparison who's stronger? I mean, Samus has lasted her 20 + years, where is Mrs. Pacman now? Small roles in 2 bit spin-off, party, and crossover games? She obviously didn't have a strong enough appeal to become as timeless as Samus.

Because Samus had ass. Mrs. Pacman had a red bow on her head and some trampy makeup.

  • 06.06.2009 10:17 PM PDT

Ass in a tin suit? lol that's probably the manliest suit I've ever seen. :P I don't think Samus is a sex icon, leave that the Lara Croft or other tramp-y characters. I think she's just a strong dependant female character.

Mrs. Pacman is more iconic then Samus...mostly for the same reasons Mario is more iconic then our friend the Chief. It's about the legacy...when Metroid is gone will anybody besides fans and gamers remember the name Samus? Do many now? Mrs. Pacman is a legend, pop culture icon, everybody knows and remembers the name.

Mrs. Pacman would eat Samus and Dare...but then Samus and Dare would return as ghosts, only then do they stand a chance and that chance soley relies on how many quarters are available lol.

In terms of a straight fight? Samus. Dare's tech and skill set is a joke compared to Samus'

lol. Legacy. How many units do you think a new Pacman title would sell nowadays? And how many units does a Metroid game sell?

You may not like to admit it, but Samus has become something of an icon herself. how many gamers today know about the justin bailey cheat? How many play smash bros for that matter?

People would notice is she wasn't in the roster for the next game. But when someone walks into an arcade, how many people exclaim "Aw man! They don't have Mrs. Pacman!"?

People still go to arcades?

I like the abrupt switch back to topic. It was awe-inspiring.

And the skill-set comment doesn't really work. We don't know what Dare's skill set is. That and the question was who would win in a mud wrestling match, which I'm sure neither have anything in their skill set for. I don't know who would win, but it would be nice to watch, given they were real...

Legacy isn't about right here and right now. It also goes beyond the bounds of the fans but of the entire population.

A non gamer will know who Mrs Pacman is, only gamers know the name Samus, and only fans will care about Dare.
