Subject: Theoretically, shouldn't the Elites be the bad guys in Halo 3: ...

Dianna Agron is the epitome of perfection.

Quinntology.

If we were to fight Elites in Halo 3, it would throw off the entire Halo Universe. And there's no telling what would happen if that was to occur...

One day... I am gonna grow wings... A chemical reaction... Hysterical and useless... hystecial and let down and hanging around... crushed like a bug in the ground.

The Elites all got on Regrets Carrier or died in the EMP. explosion!

The Brutes you fight in ODST are Truths who have just arrived on earth before you wake up.

  • 06.06.2009 10:56 PM PDT

why are you looking at this?

all of the elites there were killed in the slipspace jump, and they still hated the brutes so they wouldn't help them.....

Just wait for Halo: Reach ^_^ if you want to face Elites that badly.

Most of the Elites in Regrets fleet were sent to help Regret. Brutes delt with the Aftermath.

As a great man has said before "..." That is where the truth lies my friends

Elites were over brutes at this point making them more fitting to the Prophets needs, meaning that when the prophet left earth so did the elites, while the brutes stayed back and had fun in slaugtherville.

Your fighting brutes because the elites have been exiled from the covenant.

*idiots*
This takes place right after Regret went into Slipspace in Halo 2. You still encountered Elites around that time.

I sincerely hope there are more Elites than Brutes. I've never been a fan of the Brutes. Elites are great allies, but I preferred them as enemies.

Brutes too closely resemble apes while all the other Covenant species are more obviously alien races. "Berserking" (when you remove the Brute's shields) gets old quite fast, though it was less irritating in Halo 3 than in Halo 2.

I've seen the gameplay footage, and I already know the Brutes play a major part in the enemy lineup, but I won't let that sway my opinion, at least not before I get to play it.

"YOUR DESTRUCTION IS THE WILL OF THE GODS, AND WE ARE THEIR INSTRUMENT."

Six hours after the jump into slipspace that Regret made with his Assault Carrier with all the troops he could gather. In those six hours, Truth sent his brutes.
Note; this is simple version. too tired for complexx.

um, first in halo 3 you're not fighting elites

Halo 3 hasn't started yet, this is in the period of Halo 2.

As I see it, it seems unlikely that every single Elite in the city managed to board Regret's carrier before it jumped to slipspace, especially considering it did so barely minutes after Chief destroyed the Scarab; at which point there were still thousands scattered all over.

Nonetheless, even if it can be logically explained, I highly doubt Elite patrols couldn't be logically explained either. This was a great oppurtunity to reintroduce Elites as enemies, and Bungie have ignored it. I think Elites might also have allowed for the famed 3/4 way battles that we missed out on in Halo 3; the battles that I believe contributed to the success of the first games' campaigns.

i thought at the end of halo 2 the elites were pretty much out of the covenant so.. why would they be helping the covenant after halo 2?

There is a transition between the brutes and elites. It's not certain at what point in time this takes pace, but I'd imagine they could be the reserve forces left to find whatever Forerunner related artifacts that are to be found in New Mombasa.

Or the brutes slit their elongated throats...amirite?

At the end of Halo 2, you're fighting ALONGSIDE the Elites, are you not? From that point onwards, you are with the Elites in an Alliance.

Since ODST is in between Halo 2 and Halo 3, you are obviously on the Elites' side by now, especially since ODST is only weeks before Halo 3 apparently. So you are fighting Brutes as the primary enemy in Halo 3: ODST.

Duh...?

  • 06.07.2009 1:53 AM PDT

I`ll take you with me!

The Prophets used the brutes on the important stuff like guarding the coffe and New Mombasa, the elites noticed that and got mad and now they are charging teh laz0rz >:(

  • 06.07.2009 2:08 AM PDT

As far as I am aware, little or no elites came to earth as the prophets were planning to abandon them

Did you not play Halo 2?

At the time ODST is set (about 1/3 of the way through Halo 2), Elites were not only very much a part of the Covenant, but had not even been superseded by the Brutes. Around one hour before ODST starts, the Chief was busy mashing Elites all over the city, yet there isn't a single one present throughout the entire game?

Dont you sigh me!
You need to get your facts straight!
You're not in New Mombasa in Halo 3, you're in the Mombasa Crater, and you aren't fighting elites at all in halo 3.

sigh
alrighty, you are in New Mombasa Occupied City Center
occupied-enemies
city center- center of the city. in this case New Mombasa.
this happen the same time in halo 2
halo 2- elites AND brutes

to helveck: it could be that elites were still the prime fighting force of the covenant, so they were sent elsewhere.
then the brutes were sent in as a 'clean up crew' of sorts.

It was confirmed a long time ago there would not be any Elites, period. Regret's fleet was made up of Elites, and they all evacuated to Delta Halo after the explosion. Truth's fleet comes to reinforce the city, and is made up of all Brutes.

Do none of you have a sense of humour?
We do, this just isn't funny.

Theoretically, Elites would still be the enemy. But ODST takes place before the revolt of the Elites and before the exchange of Brutes being the Prophets guards, therefore, all the Elites were called back to protect the three Prophets, and left the other species of the Covenant to defeat Earth.

This.

To complement that info: Elites are protecting Regret on Delta Halo. During the six hours the Rookie was K.O., the brutes arrived to New Mombasa.

i can see the subject of "TIMELINE" coming up in the next updates. there are still a load of ignorant blams who think it takes place during halo 3 because they don't know how to listen.
