Subject: Do YOU think Dare is going to betray the squad?

Community Reviewer, Honoured Reviewer
When I googled Harold Ryan it came up with a car dealers name and when I clicked on an ad saying they could get rid of my tickets (OMG Click it Or Ticket!) it said only $500. If you take $500 from $500 you get $0 and if you add $8 to that and then take away $1 you get $7! Coincidence or not?

It seems like everyone is lining Dare up to be some super bad betrayer that will be the boss fight of ODST, but am I the only one who thinks maybe she is just some mysterious ONI operative that has a special target for the squad?

Vote, so we can see the percentages on who thinks Dare will betray the squad. I'm very curious to see the results.

No, I think Dare is going to helped the Squad. When the Rookie got the Superintendent in his system, one of the sentence say "[AUTH:] Dare.V.500341[S1]] this could mean that Dare toke control of the Superintendent to help the squad.

well, she might, and then she might not, she could very well just be an overall mysterious character, not a traiter.

Know who's your enemy is. It's the half naked Jason Jones. He wasn't accepted in Halo 3 ODST unlike Halo 2, and Halo 3 so he wants pay back to the people who are the main characters.

Seriously...?

Dare is a human, and there is nothing the Covenant can offer her.

To even think that she'd betray humanity is borderline Halo-blasphemy, and I'll easily bet someone that it will never happen.

Exactly. Plus she's already a high ranking official. So why would you throw that all away just to be killed later on. They would kill her basically right away anyway once they found her.

Don't forget, the Rookie's Personnel file is partially classified as well. She may not necessarily be out to betray the squad, just using them to accomplish her own agenda, one set in place by ONI, not necessarily running on parallel to the Navy's goals.

Well...

The game doesn't have those such details yet. We have to play the game to find out this, don't we?

True. But we also know the name of Masterchief, John 117, and a little of his origins and age. Although, admittedly, not on his first appearance, Halo CE.

The books added all of that in. They filled in those gaps. The Rookie I believe will actually be able to have anyone in his shoes because you don't know much about him.

That might very well be the case, he seems even more the silent protagonist than the Master Chief, from what I've seen anyway. I wonder if we will see his character fleshed out more, both later in the game, and in other material?

  • 06.07.2009 12:20 AM PDT

Sure you can mix and match his personality, but he still HAS to be a guy. Way to let me trick out my ODST Bungie....

yea but, ONI's been seen doing all this -blam!- behind peoples backs and while not openly joining the covies, they have done some pretty whacked out stuff to get what they want...especially if you look at the opening cinematic released at E3 Dare says "this is MY squad now" so she's bound to screw them over some how... maybe leave them to face a horde of brutes while she flees!

How and why?

She's not going to side with the covenant that wouldn't make any sense.

yea i don't trust spooks

  • 06.07.2009 1:43 AM PDT

Staff Sergeant future 510, serial number HHT3-09PL, Flood Military Reserve.

She is an ONI spook, here intentions will always be some mystery at first, but I think the Superintendent will end up betraying everyone, most likely out of rampancy or just because the ODST's blow everything up all the time in his city.

So no, it won't be Dare.

http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=18281838 help me develope Martial arts style combat for Halo!

No the convenant aren't to friendly with defecters, like one of the above posters said, the covenant can't offer her anything and they'd be to proud to accept help from a "heretical human"

  • 06.07.2009 1:47 AM PDT

not sure if she or not because she does send them off course and says shes helping them which doesnt make sense since there mission is to go on the covenant ship.

Self-proclaimed genius.
Roam the streets with a sign, "will love for false hope."

Dare already has. "What did she just say?" "Mark!" But it's for the greater good of humanity so who cares if she slaughtered most of the ODSTs dropped? XD
