We know it is based around the novel, The Fall of Reach (which is my fave Halo novel), but I'm kinda let down by that.

My biggest worry is that the story of the Chief after Halo 3 will be done/developed by someone else besides Bungie.

And dag namit I wanna know whats up with the Chief.

You know what's up with the chief? He's sleeping. He's done.

I have no doubt that it will be a great game....maybe I'm selfish, but I've read the book (great read btw).

I want more progression with the Chief. While I think Halo 3 wrapped up quite nicely, once I beat it on Legendary I was back to "Damnit Bungie. Now I want to see more".

And I mean that in a good way.

You better close this sig when your done.

You know Bungie still has one more project up their sleeve. They said they had three "Some are familiar and some are not." They said something else too but they've released info about Reach and ODST so the only one left is the one thats not familiar. It could be a brand new type of game with the chief on the weird planet.

Well, Bungie has said, repeatedly, that Halo 3 was the end of the story arc, as in Master' Chief's tale.

i think bungies not wanting to wear out master chief and theres probably nothing else for the chief to fight seeings how arbiter takes the covenant throne and the flood is destroyed at the end

They said then end of the story arc....not the last of Master Chief. And as someone else said, Chief says at the end of Halo 3, "Wake me when you need me."

So again, show me proof that Master Chief is done.

Otherwise, its just speculation.

Then again, you "could" be right. (notice the quotations)

"YOUR DESTRUCTION IS THE WILL OF THE GODS, AND WE ARE THEIR INSTRUMENT."

Now that they've reached the END of the story arc..they go back towards the beginning. >:D I'm personally dissapointed you're dissapointed. Dissapointer. D:

I'm not saying I'm not excited that Bungie is doing another Halo game ( because I am PUMPED), but I was hoping for something to go forward. ( I was actually intrigued to see what Bungie could/would do outside of the Halo Universe.)

Any true Halo fan has read the books, and knows the outcome of Reach. So, logically, I'm thinking there aren't gonna be any surprises. (Ala OMFGZ he's still alive.....YES)

I'm sure it will be a great game, maybe better than Halo 3 and ODST (campaign wise) but if you've read the book, you know the outcome.

Disappointed is a bad word for it, but couldn't think of another word that fits.

Long live the Last Refuge!

I'm glad there making a prequel, especially since there doing it on one of my favorite battles in the halo-verse. I'm honestly tired of playing as John I think he has had his story told and now its time to hear other stories of heroism.

Hey this is ODST123, I made this new account because i needed to link my gt. Please send all messages to ODST123 since I'm reverting back to that profile.

I love it! More spartans hooray!!! I was wondering, maybe Halo :Reach is a flashback that John haves when he's on the ship at the ending of Halo 3.

Thank you Rain.

Everyone seems to state things like they wrote the Halo bible.

But with that one word "maybe", it comes as an idea instead of sounding like your trying to force something down ones throat as fact.

And an excellent idea IMO. 8)

Chief wasn't at the Battle of Reach. Save the start while he is in space and at the very end when he comes with a ship to evac Dr.Hasley, Whitcomb, and the rest of the SPARTANs that are left standing.

has anyone thought of what the planet at the end of halo 3 could mean. i have a speculation, and i say that with the knowledge that its completely insane, but maybe when chief went back through the portal, he went back in time and is arriving on Reach before the fall of it and just after Keys Jumps out with chief and cortana...

I would rather see a new story arc, which eventually we will probably get. The question is who is going to make it?

I find prequels a rather pointless entity in a series of stories. I mean what's the point? We know what will happen. Its like someone telling you what happens at the end of a film you have never seen (think of if someone told you the end of "The Sixth Sense" or "The Empire Strikes Back")

In this case a lot of people have read "The Fall of Reach" or have looked up the plot on the internet.

Whatever is new in Halo: Reach could have been incorporated into a brand new story.

On the other hand, Halo: Reach may not be what we are expecting it to be.

I'm really happy they're making a prequel. I always wanted Bungie to make game before the Halo Combat Evolved time setting, but finding out what happens to the Chief would be interesting!

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Pope

Just because the game is based around the Fall of Reach, doesnt mean we know exactly what is going to happen. The novel didnt cover the point of view of every single person and ship involved in the fight to defend Reach, so there is plenty of scope to add twists and turns.

As for the future adventures of Master Chief, i suspect they will be held off until Microsoft need a launch title for the Xbox 720 or whatever they are gonna call it.

No. Why is everyone so angry and sad about Master Chief going away, Just use your imagination and make your own theory of what happened to him. I think this game will be extremely fun to play. I always wanted a game based on the books.

Maybe Bungie will pick back up on Johns story in the future.
