Subject: They arnt going to follow the story from the book...

they just arnt, maybe roughly, but, dont think bungie will let anything from the book obstruct them from making the best game possible,
besides, the fall of reach would have made a terrible game the way it was described in the book

whatever.
I'm glad you didnt talk about time travel >.>

also, the teaser sez : from the begining, we know how it ends. so reach WILL fall. just like it does in the book.

  • 06.07.2009 9:42 AM PDT

yeah definatly, i mean, im sure at least these things will happen,
1. covenant comes to reach
2. theres a battle, a huge, awesome, battle
3. Humans lose

but all these kids saying "oh this cant happen cause in the books blaahhhh"
its silly

and the kids talking about time travel..... i dont even know

then yes. bungie will not STICK HARD to the book. I mean it's a book it was not written to be a video game plot.
we'll probably do more than what the spartans do.

  • 06.07.2009 9:52 AM PDT

the books ok...the writer kind of makes the spartans a bit...i dont know nerdy i guess.
But theres some good fiction and back story though, the action isnt very well written its just filled with technical nonsense with no real intensity to it. but read it anyway just remember not to take everything in the books to heart..bungie only considers them canonical when they dont diverge from what happens in the games,

  • 06.07.2009 9:58 AM PDT

The book is good, but the story in the game probably won't follow the book's story at all.

With an entire planet to look at, and millions of people on that planet, just imagine how many stories there are to be told about the events surrounding Reach's fall.

If there's one thing Bungie does better than many other game developers, it's creating stories that enthrall their audiences, and they have a planetful of options for this game.

lol thnx.....and yeah i did get lost when they were taking that rebel leader
the action in it is just ..........lacking

  • 06.07.2009 10:09 AM PDT

"john loaded his MA5B assualt rifle and leveled it and the sticatto crackle of the gunfire tore 6 point 5 milimeter holes throughout the jacket of the rebel soldier so he switched to his H745YU Automatic Pistol with 57 micro inch alloy 76 milliliter round and began..."

yeah he has an odd sense of what is awesome

I respect your opinion, I'm probably just going to disagree with it.

Well, seeing as the book is pretty much based off the Halo bible, I don't see why they can't follow the book. It's not a game of the book 'Fall of Reach', but they are both from the same source - hence it is likely that they will be similar.

EDIT
Also, having read Frogwart's post, I agree with him/her xD

according to the book, no one had ever seen an elite until reach, thats silly.
plus the trailer already has discrepancies from the book, not that im complaining, i just think the game will be whatever it wants to be, after all, its halo: reach, not halo: the fall of reach the game

Are you kidding? TFoR would be the greatest Halo experience of all time, so long as you cut out the pointless stuff.

  • 06.07.2009 10:25 AM PDT

yeah thats what i mean most of the book isnt any action, and the action in the book would translate poorly to a video game

the parts of the book that talk about the ground battle on reach only follow the story of about
5-8 spartans(i forget how many exactly) there are still 20 that we don't know what exactly happend

  • 06.07.2009 12:15 PM PDT

was johnson on reach? im cant remember and im sure someone can answer faster than i can look it up, but it would be nice to see him again.

Whats up with Spartans calling Elites Dinosaurs? I mean Spartans are the ones almost extinct! XD

What if in Halo:Reach, we play through different perspectives during the attack instead of taking it straight from the book. I think that would be interesting, like how Halo:ODST is going to be.

  • 06.07.2009 12:18 PM PDT

yeah i thougth about that, the only problem emotional disconnection that would occur, if you only spend time as as certain spartan for a small portion of the game, you wouldnt really get to appreciate him or her enough, i mean, i guess thats not the worst thing ever but....

they could go call of duty ish and give each character a whole mini campaign which could be baddass

  • 06.07.2009 12:22 PM PDT

Well if you think about it that way, Bungie would be able to make alot of games doing so but instead they concentrated on the most important spartan, MC. You have to think of the Spartans as a whole than individually because theres alot of em o.O. So I think its better to play as the most important Spartans of the group.

  • 06.07.2009 12:27 PM PDT

thats true, also i doubt ill ever be able to appreciate one spartan as much as MC anyway.
but if it is different mission through different view points, i just hope the missions feel connected enough
