Why is it that everyone is so overwhelmingly anti-time travel? Seriously. You all need to back off before your brain has an anurism. Time travel is not impossible. WOAH HERESY. Time travel is possible until the game comes out and there is no time travel.

If Halo:CE had been this popular before it came out, you ****-tards would have said, "A zombie-like species, thats just stupid." -or- "There is no way Bungie would make it about a galactic superweapon, because thats overused and stupid."

Heres a brilliant idea, unless you are making the game, STFU and let people have opinions. That's how ideas are created.
It's not the idea of time travel we are against here.

It is the hordes upon hordes of people that create thread after thread after thread of identical theories.

And besides, we already know the entire series of events here. I see this two ways:

1) The game loosely resembles the book's events, and we all get to play an epic game against impossible odds without the cliche'd "barely won" ending.

2) The events in the book are ignored, Bungie confuses the hell out of everyone who was interested enough in the Haloverse to find out what happened to REACH, and possibly the events of Halo: CE are altered.

There is a difference between people forming opinions based off of educated guess's and information that is available and those who keep throwing around the same baseless theory. Note that the people who have given good counter explanations for the time travel theories have not gotten personal, like you just did. One thing that you need to acknowledge is that aside from assumption and wishful thinking, there is no legit reason to assume time travel, not even an inkling, so why push for it?

The Lord is my savior. He is Christ Jesus and can be yours too.

I'm not pushing for it, I'm simply stating how frustrating it is for some people to get on these forums, looking for a good topic, and find two things: Definite proof theories, and people who bash them.

Just lay off. Will time travel happen, probably not. Could it, YES.

Btw, I was not being emotional, I was typing as I would speak, leaving nothing out. The unintended byproduct of this is what looks like emotion on screen. If I were emotional, my crappy typing would show through because I'm so angry that I don't remember to check it.

Fair enough, but I didn't say you were getting emotional, I said you were getting personal, big difference. Also, in regards to time travel theories on this forum I have yet to see any "definite proof" theories be bashed, only the same baseless theory and the weak arguements that support them. I realise that there are those that simply insult people over their theories, but there have also been several people that have given a solid amount of evidence to disprove the time travel theory.

Even though anything COULD technically happen, saying time travel could happen in Reach is like saying MC could be a Black dude(despite the prescence of written backround stating the contrary).

You all need to stop. Right now.

Time travel will not happen.

I somehow believe that you're stating your own theory, are you not?

Bungie is full of surprises, and while I do also think that the whole 'time travel' idea is absurd, you can never be too sure. I guess we'll find out in 2010.

Yes, yes I am. And I welcome you to disprove that. Seriously, go ahead.

I am flatterd that you botherd to look at my signature.

the problem is people do not treat theorys like theorys..it's like public schools they treat theorys as if they are facts and teach then as facts...

look i have proof that the world was shat out by a ginormus space whale.. my proof is that we are small compaierd to this planet there for makeing us bacteria living of the floughting waste. so how do i know it was a space whale? whell based on what kind dirt i find i can tell you how old the bacteria living in it is.. and based on what bacteria i find i can tell you how old the dirt is.. there for it was obviously shat out by a giant space whale..not a giant space horse.

a theory is not a fact a theory is an estimate baised on your observasions.

every one thinks it is proof a theory is just an idea that is also a possibilty but when people try to proov there theorys they make up bull -blam!- to make it seem like they are right.

if anyone has read the books or played halo ce - 3, they KNOW that halo isnt a cliche sci fi with time travel and robots and all that stuff

Monkey see, Monkey shoot.

Terry Pratchet - The Best.

Crikey, this is till going?

Right one I thought this weak flame of a theory was not only extinguished but purged.

Two I am all for good theory's and such like, but....the Overwhelming evidence is that there is no time travel. Yet to see a time Theory that had proof.

Why do we need a form of proof or evidence? Wellit make dicerning the true story easier, if we sue what we are given, not what is assumed. We use the evidence and proof as reasons for our argument/theory. Without any of those and resorting to emotional/personal persuasion only reduces the credibility.

We bash these time travel threads because they are really hopeless.

That said, the Master Chief is on/ in the space near Reach, and does play a minor part in the Battle. The FoR is also where MC meets Sarg A.Johnson, in which certain credible theorys relate to him being an S1.

~~Christian

Halo Reach is just putting the book Fall of Reach into game format... NO TIME TRAVEL!!!

  • 06.19.2009 8:45 PM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

I'm still keeping an open mind. Time travel in science fiction never really makes sense. Maybe they're planning on making it into an alternate timleine or that Chief was there influencing the events all along from behind the scenes. Whatever the case, I'm not convinced either way yet.

I'll dumb it down a bit.
Future goes to Past.
Past events occur because of Future.
Past becomes Present.
Present becomes Future.
Future goes to past.
One word : Paradox.

(
Only the exact person going back would experience the future goes to past part. Everything past to the future is still the same. If time traveled itself, then yes, everything would experience it.
Oh and he didn't go back to live and then go back IMO. Oh and time travel still sucks kinda.

"The avalanche has already begun. It is too late for the pebbles to vote." - Ambassador Kosh, Vorlon Empire

I blame the Star Trek "science" and all of the fans of it for this persistence that every sci-fi story must use time travel as a key plot device. Somehow some people seem to think that Star Trek is fact. Damn trekkies!

Spiderstosh, Spiderstosh...does whatever a Spiderstosh does. Breaks the interwebs in his prime...guess who is....to blame this time? Spiderstosh...it is the Spiderstoooosh. -SonicJohn

they are not S-IIIs. their armor screams MJOLNIR!!!! also, the fact that the projections of their bodies are laying down seems to convey to me that the actual bodies are laying down too. its likely blue team, which includes, but isn't limited to, john, linda, fred, sam, kurt... you get the idea.

I think there are so many theories about time travel because people dont want to come to the fact that they wont be playing as Master Chief. We have held his hand since CE, but now we have let it go, as we have grown up and are moving on to bigger and better things.

i agree. but we'll probably see what happens to master chief at some point. maybe not in a video game, it might be a book. who knows?

Cool. I'm pretty sure that these people aren't swayed to sitting on the fence next to you. Some people believe -- or want to believe -- that time travel occured. Some people arm themselves with pieces of evidence on either side.

I doubt Time Travel will come into play. Bungie would be messing with their own canon, even in the game storyline. Regardless, I acknowledge that there is a possibility, however remote, that Time Travel will occur. Because as much evidence as anyone can throw up, no one has facts, and therefore no one has real answers.

Johnson is immune to the Flood?

He is immune from infection, not from getting ripped a new one. Johnson has Borens syndrom (spelling?), which causes him to be resilient to Flood infection. I believe the best explanation of the "why" is in the novel First Strike.

To be exact, the Boren's Syndrome was revealed to be a cover-up in the Halo Graphic Novel. He is actually immune because he is a Spartan-I, something the ONI wanted to cover up.
