I signed up on this website just to get into this thread.
First off, I want to say good job chickenlittle, and all those who didn't fall to insulting other people just because they didn't agree on what they thought on a subject.
Now, I've been exploring the Halo universe ever since I played the Halo for PC demo at school. Can't say I'm an expert, but I do know something, at least. I've also read THE FALL OF REACH as well, so I know where some people are getting at when they use that as a source for the whole HALO: REACH thing. On where I stand in the time-travel argument, I admit it was quite nice to play around with the theory at first, but soon I realized there just wasn't enough proof to support the theory. And even if there isn't any time travel, and you won't play as Master Chief, does that matter? Don't you think it's time to explore the Halo universe through a different helmet?
That being said, you can't rule out time-travel. If life (and THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY) has taught us anything, it's that any possibility in any universe or timestream can only be highly implausible. And with the fact that Bungie is to Halo as God is to us, nothing can be ruled out, 'till the big guy says so. And when I say big guy, I mean Bungie.
