Subject: Space Battle?

Underwater Eagle.

A space battle in reach seems plausible, considering that a significant part of the battle in Fall of Reach focuses on John's team trying to destroy the nav database. Additionally, it seems possible that some of the defense platforms were boarded (although most of the Covenant focused on the groundside generators.) A space battle, especially one where the player pilots a UNSC vessel, could add a lot to the story.

Most likely Cut-scenes only, and hopefully, a lot of them.

Although, I really do hope that they can implement them, even if it's only small-scale fighter skirmishes. Longswords FTW.

Yea. That really would be amazing if we could pilot a longsword.

But like Chicken said, it's probably only going to be cut scenes.

Here's my advice to you son, its a life lesson you shan't forget.

Some people are like Slinkies. They aren't good for anything in particular, but it still makes you smile when you push them down the stairs

it's confirmed to be a FPS
not a spaceship battlesimulator

get yer facts straight

...Star Wars Battlefront 2, a Third Person Shooter, has Space Battles

..Also all the Halo Trilogy are FPS games, they ALL have Vehicle Combat...so Space Combat could be used...

Vehicles = warthogs correct?

Vehicles = longswords as well.

The definition of "insanity" is: Doing the exact, same -blam!- thing, over and over again, expecting -blam!- to change. That is "crazy".

Also, I make pone wellpoopers.

Did I ever tell you the definition of "insanity"?

I came!
And that would be awesome.

You wouldn't think it would be cool if one level was a spaceship battle? :/

  • 06.07.2009 3:13 PM PDT

I say again, it would be incredibly ridiculous to pilot an actual capital ship.

You have Navigation, Engines, Weapons, and Piloting. No way you can do all of this on your own.

Are all the ships huge? Just wondering...

ODST for life

Well despite the images of that Sid Mier pirate ship game gone Halo popping into my head I think some sort of playable Space battle would be pretty awesome. Piloting a longsword to go bomb a Covenant cruiser would be pretty stinking cool (although it would be a bit Star Wars-ish).

In the previous Halo games you never really get to experience the epic space battles between the Covenant and UNSC ships. The closet things I can think of is the Mac platform defense in Halo 2, and the cut scene in Halo Wars. I think its about time we get to experience one of these battles up close. They always sound awesome in the books.

yes that would be amazing! hornets and banshee battles = fail lol

If ship-to-ship combat isn't in the cards, I for one would love to see the return of an infiltration level. I suppose I'm nostalgic for "Truth & Reconciliation" from Halo: C.E. Man, I love that level.

  • 06.07.2009 6:54 PM PDT

I would love that !!!!!!

Here we are again bro... Just you and me. Same kind of moon same kind of jungle. Real number 10 remember... Whole platoon, 32 men chopped into meat... We walk out just you and me, nobody else. Right on top huh? Not a scratch... Not a f**kin' scratch. You know who ever got you. They'll come back again. And when he does I'm gonna cut your name right into him... I'M GONNA CUT YOUR NAME RIGHT INTO HIM!

John's team trying to destroy the nav database above reach would make a great first mission I think.

You could just control the weapons system, like that level in call of duty 4 where your in the gunship and you have to keep the guys on the ground safe. Well, the same basic principle could apply. Exept instead of keeping the guys on the ground safe you could keep your ship safe. And I really wanna fire a MAC.

or for a space battle bungie could make it just like regular multiplayer, but with zero gravity. it probably would be really hard to get used to, but after a while i think i would be really fun, and require tons of skill.

  • 06.07.2009 11:00 PM PDT

Something like that would be a really fresh addition to the gameplay... I'd be happy to see it that's for sure.

Don't forget, Battlefront 2 also allowed for First Person perspective if you went to the option menu.

one thing that will bother me...(though it realy dosent matter)

would we hear sounds in space? i always thought that was odd in starwars..lol

but space battles would be boreing with out sounds.. so i made up an exscuse that it's the exaust from the engines and debree from explosions makeing a momentary atmospheres so sound could be heard..

Underwater Eagle.

I should clarify that m original point was never to control capital ships, that would be ridiculous, I was mainly thinking of a battle in vaccum over reach, like when John's team had to destroy the nav database. A longsword battle would be awesome, but I wouldn't expect it, as you can't really get in and out of a ship in space the way you can in atmosphere. Sorry if that was incoherent, but it would be ridiculous to have a "Hold RB to exit Longsword" when you were flying 30 miles above reach's surface.
