In both the trailer and real life, Epsilon Eridani is red. The Legendary Star is blue.

Reach is completely glassed. The Legendary Ending planetoid has a mechanical, metallic surface that has notable structure and design. It is not Reach.

How about the game's cutscene shows Cortana waking Chief and saying what OP said. "Remember this..." and then the rest of the game is just played as a large flashback, then at the end Chief is just drifting alone in the universe again, it would kind of suck, mega cliffhanger that brings you nowhere.

Yeah, the whole point of the legendary ending is that they are a long way from Earth.

... Reach is NOT along way from Earth. Ergo the legendary planet is not Reach.

Besides, the lines in the trailer point ot a prequel. Its a prequel.

I really hope nothing remotley similar happens in the story of reach because if it did that would mean the planet (or possible shield world) in the halo 3 legendary ending would not be onyx.

I firmly belive that Halo : Reach will be about the events that took place in the novel Fall of Reach and First Strike ( and or maybe Ghosts of Onyx) by Nylund and is just simply filling in the gaps of the story so they can procede on to make Halo 4(?) which could involve onyx and you meeting up with Halsley along with the remaining Spartan-II's, Spartan-III's, and SCPO Mendez.

i want a nice prequil to the halo story to be honest, not rly a sequal..... but it could happen but i dont rly want tht to happen. i want it to be more original in a way. i dont rly kno how to word it. i just want it to be a prequil.

Phoenix is dead, long live Phoenix!
Is it?

Master Chief never fought the covenant on reach until after it had been glassed, and that small bit was all written about and very very short, they could do the training but that wouldn't really be Halo...

Linky.

^What he said^

and even though, you battle the last of the covenant forces in Halo 3. After the prophet dies, there is no longer a covenant.

The Covenant still exist, if they pooled all of their resources together, Earth would have been vitrified long ago... Remember, Regret stumbled upon Earth. Things were set in motion much faster than planned. Not to mention, Reach got a warmer reception than Earth did. The largest fleet of Covenant warships ever seen. Earth was stumbled upon and occupied for the portal to the ark. There was no need for all of the Covenant to be there. Remember in the ending of Halo 3, Truth was broadcasting to the Covenant. Besides, read the description of Assembly via the Mythic Map Pack.

"The Covenant war machine continues its march to conquest; even with its head severed it is still dangerous."

They are still out there...

I just wanted to correct that little piece of info. Now, play nice kids...

Err.....Halo: Reach and Halo 3 have around 6-7 months between them.

Battle of Reach commences August 2552.

Battle of Installation 00 ended November 2552

So not even that, just 4 months,

Adjust your strategy to the game, not the game to your strategy.

I'd like it if Halo:Reach had flashback cutscenes of the training of the SPARTAN lls, like in Halo ODST.

and how!

Well considering that the rear end of the Frigate is outside of the Milky Way galaxy drifting slowly...it would mean hundreds of years before reaching the system Reach is in...perhaps surviving Forerunners inside a shield world we haven't heard about emerged and built upon the destroyed surface of Reach.

I know this is a stretch, but it certainly makes more sense than all the lame time travel theories.

As stated in many other topics, the stars can omit deferent lights depending on star cycle, as well as angles and refracting light from other surrounding light sources.

For the Glassed Surface, it does take away the possibility of having no flashbacks because . . what is there to remember? BUT there are many possibilities in a world like Halo. An Advanced species with great artifact finding capabilities?

-In the end my theory does have to do with fighting the original battle of reach, the flashback idea may be a bit far fetched.

*POSSIBILITY* Legendary ending is Reach: the glassed planet with a great civilization re building on it's surface, chief crashes and dies . . . (end of Halo 3 Reach)
the whole game could take place as chief and cortana hurtle towards a old and new reach, replaying all of the Reach memories of Chief. In the end of the game all the spartans die . . as well as chief . . all great spartans died on Reach? Or Chief found his place of resting, both theory tangents are possible and make an interestingly plausible story line

Sry but how can we compare the Halo universe to ours, also even if we did, its about time that Epsilon Eridani dies right? the Halo universe takes place year in our future

Eat it

No. It's simple people- the floating half/ship at the end of the legendary ending is not the same ship Master Chief was in at the end of Halo 3. It's simply a teaser for Reach. Not tied to Halo 3 in any way. That's why the screen cuts to black and all music/sound stops, THEN the scene begins.

I know this is so out there, but COULD there have been some forerunner technology on reach before the glassing? Similar to Halo and the Ark. That would explain the "buildings and lights" at the end of the Legendary game. I mean I dont see how the forerunner technology couldnt have been buried up, or broken through the glassing during the activation....totaly out there but whatever.

Oh My God... He's got a gun!

Again over 40 years a lot can change, stars can die and new ones can be born, also light refraction from different stars and the planet's angle can change light color and intensity.
*NOTE* in the star cycle if the red star of reach is a red giant on the brink of death a new blue star can take it's place.

EPIC PHYSICS PHAIL! OMFGWTFZOMFG dude... seriously... in 40 years? new stars can be born?! what the -blam!- are you talking about man.

and NO light is ALWAYS refracted in their respective color when you look through the atmosphere no matter what. It is only ON earth that you see the difference.

Now, the legendary planet is NOT reach. That from the beginning you know the end could simply state that you already know what is going to happen to the chief... or with the people on reach... because you probably read the book. Or it is about the faith of pillar of autumn.

Re think your theory man. It is not reach. The geometric shapes on the planet in the legendary ending are not human. We never (and probably won't for another 1000 years) built geometric shapes that are visible from space. The most geometric we got was a simply town in the shape of a star. The rest is scatter.

Nothing is better than gaming through the day, into the night, then back into the day. It's like when you finally push that power button you feel like you've accomplished nothing, but at the same time, you can't stop smiling.

The surface of Reach is basically molten rock. It was rained down with plasma fire so much that the buildings and terrain turned into an almost glass-like material. There's no way it takes place after Halo 3 because Reach is still in this state.
