Just because my subject line might make it seem like that I cater to these beliefs, it doesn't necessarily mean that I do.
Given Bungie's track record with there games, I'd like to point out the forerunner, or the mother and father of Halo.
Marathon.
Time travel played a big factor in that series, and many of the story elements in both games are strangely similar, and it's regarded as the spiritual predecessor of the Halo Trilogy.
Slip-space travel in essential, is faster than light travel.
It's a game, yeah, but the Theory of Relativity would back this up, right?
They didn't "travel" through slip-space, the did a JUMP; and the portal was unstable, and it collapsed, possibly scrambling the jump coordinates Cortana had input into the NAV computer.
I figure that even if I can't ascribe to there theory, they deserve to be defended.
After all; we know just as much about the game as any body else other than the development team.
Don't knock it, because 2010 is a while away, and wouldn't it be funny if they're right?
and to the people saying that it wouldn't be canon to Bungie's universe....
that's just it.
it's bungies universe.
We just play in it.
